So, being the lucky Console-Player that I am and I know can gloat for about 5 seconds to the PC Master race (until I go on youtube to watch Mods of the Week and cry myself to sleep) about how awsome it is.

In all seriousness though I haven't seen much discussion about the add-on and I think it totally deserves the attention to at least be discussed about.

So... do you like it?
Are you a Vampire Lord or a Dawnguard?
What do you like about it?

For me... I chose to be a Dawnguard as apposed to a Vampire Lord, mostly because I want to "save the best for last". I have gotten around 10-12 hours in the questline and haven't played it for about 3 weeks because I had to leave on vacation (and I'm posting this from there so I still won't be able to access it again for about another 3 weeks) and I am dearly missing it.

What do you guys/gals think of it? Better than Shivering Isles even? (As amazing that masterpiece was?)

Pc master race here. I might not have it but I know for a fact it won't be as good a Shivering Isles. I mean come on it might have a good story but it doesn't have the best part of Shivering Isles, the comedy. Skyrim might get a dlc better than SI but I doubt it will be this one. If there is a DLC that is better than SI it will probably take place in another Daedric Realm.

I am looking forward to the 26th though. I am making a character for each. Though I am probably get this mod for my vampire play through. Hopefully it is compatible with dawnguard. The Vampire lord is a just new form correct? If so it should be fine.

Shivering Isles was only good because it was such a stark contrast to how BAD Oblivion was.

Dawnguard cant be as good as SI because vanilla Skyrim was built on fixing all the problems base Oblivion had. A DLC can't pose such a tremendous improvement on what is already essentially fixed Oblivion.

As for Dawnguard itself, it is pretty fun, the Vampire attacks on cities can claim many lives, but if you good you can get away without a named NPC death.

I have found Dawnguard more fun then all the DLC for Oblivion, Fallout 3, and New Vegas, sans Old world Blues. *note* SI isn't counted because it wasn't DLC.

Even the people that loved Oblivion loved the shivering Isles. I fell in love with Oblivion and stiill found the Shivering Isles to be brilliant. I don't see how it was better than regular Oblivion. It didn't introduce any new mechanics or anything it just had a good story. The guilds had good stories too .The main quest was a little weak but the guilds were brilliant.

PC master race myself (just kidding were not a master race I just say that to playfully antagonize the console players). However I have an Xbox of which I purchased Dawnguard on (thank god I got Skyrim for it free due to my birthday).

I havnt finished it because the questline broke on me after I got back from the soul cairn. That said, I think its schizophrenic at best. I played as a dawnguard after my imperial finished the main quest and was in the process of doing the civil war before dawnguard came out. The first thing I noticed was all the vampire lore being very non-vampire like. For example the whole story revolves around this idea of ending the terror of the sun but so far as I could tell sunlight didnt really do anything to vampires. My vampire companion functioned fine it in, I got attacked by enemy vampires in broad daylight, and vampires never seemed to go to sleep during the day indoors.

Some other concerns I had regarding vampire vulnerabilities
1. My vampire companion could cross running water fine
2. Vampires didnt seem to get scared off by garlic
3. Holy symbols like my amulet of Talos did nothing to enemy vampires
4. Silver weapons did nothing to vampires

It was like every vulnerability vampires had in folklore/legends of our real worlds were gone. Now I can let go of some things but when the game says the sun is a vulnerability and vampires dont seem to be weakened by it there's a problem.

The story isnt bad and has some nice locations. However the dungeon parts are pretty linear (even more so then most of skyrims dungeons). There are some new shouts and the first one I got was drain stamina or something like that which I found pretty useless

I did not become a vampire lord so I cant comment on that but Dawnguard left me feeling like it should have had more to it then what we got. Maybe that changes later in the story, I dont know, but its not all that great IMO and mostly due to the vampires seeming more like wannabe twilight vampires then actual vampires

The only half-decent guild quest in Oblivion was the Dark brotherhood's, how anyone can consider the other guild's as being even acceptable is beyond me.

The Oblivion guild's quite literally ruined everything that each of the guild's, including the dark brotherhood, stood for.

I almost had to stop playing the game because of how atrociously bad Oblivion's guilds were.
