So basically, this comes down to "I'm bored"? There are better ways to entertain yourself, you know. Like, instead of going 3 days without foot, masturbate incessantly for 3 days! Be sure to use lube for the friction burns.

Day 2 without food.

39:3 hours in and I'm feeling okay, feeling a little light headed, but nothing major. I keep thinking of my favorite foods and it's driving me crazy. It's not that the hunger is unbearable. I just happen to know what I'm missing.

Considering quitting now... But I know I can make it at least another day.
why are you starving yourself? just doesn't seem very ..... logical lol

I went 5 days without food one time, when my esophagus swelled up due to illness. by the 5th day, I was dreaming about food. When it finally cleared, I ate an entire dinner meant for the whole family of 5, and my dad had to take two trips to McDonalds to still my amazing hunger. Sure, I threw up in between the 5th cheeseburger and the 6th, but I was on a frenzy.
Anyway, good luck with your quest.

OK why are you starving yourself for a challenge it is just stupid people only starve them selves if they are obsessed with losing weight of trying to make a statement (this being the only good reason to starve yourself). I think you shouldn't do this it is unhealthy and good damage your body for a really long period of time and you could easily just faint and if no one is around to get you to the hospital you will properly just die after that. starving yourself also isn't a test of character if you want a test of character try running a marathon or climbing up a really big mountain (if you have no experience of climbing mountains just to a normal mountain). if you REALLY want to starve yourself as a challenge talk to your doctor about it first.

May I ask. What the fuck?

Why are you going without food? What is your cause, what discussion value is here other than you seeimgly being an idiot via fasting.
If you would like to discuss my idiocy, by all means.
I'd prefer to know why the hell you're not eating, otherwise this thread really should be shut down.
Mainly a test for myself. I wouldn't like to say I'm doing it to become a better person because I have no intention of making myself a better person...

Test yourself, eh? Try living on the streets or something.

And why the hell would you test yourself by fasting? Why not do what all the other "sane" kids to and join the army or something.

Oh, and while you're at it, do me a favour. For every day you go starving, send a days worth of food to some kid in the third world.

Seconded, this just seems like a retarded way to make a bad point (if any). I can't imagine you will come out of this experience any better a person than when you went in.
If you really want to challenge yourself, do something that you will get some stories out of, something that will get you to meet people or something that will give you some usable skills. You could even combine all 3. Like this guy said, climb a mountian, go on a hitchhiking/camping holiday, take up a sport. Literally anything would be better than starving yourself.

It's great that people are so curious about the motivations here. People are motivated by many things other than logic -- curiosity, conscience, spirituality, aesthetics, etc. Just because there's no external benefit that can be objectively measured, doesn't mean that an action is necessarily pointless.

My stomach is growling just reading this...

Ive gone 2 weeks without barely any food besides soup and soggy bread. Why? Because my mouth was blistered and painful as hell so even sipping the soup had me screaming. I was only 6 and my mum was worried sick about me.

After that, the only other time ive been near starvation is only eating 1 or maybe 2 packets of very cheap noddles each day for 2 months. I lost over 1 stone of weight and became underweight. Again, this had a logical reason. My mum had died and i had no money for decent food, living alone with no family support.

I see this "experiment" as being stupid and selfish. Many go hungry because they have no option. You choose to go hungry because your bored. Yes you can survive without food, but each day you do, part of your system shuts down. Not just your digestive, but other organs also. That has already been proven on numerous documentaries. Enjoy messing up your health. Dont bother going 2 the doctors if you do, it would only be your own fault.

Besides, i think you might just crack by another day or two.

Sorry, i didn't mean it like that. Just can't it do your digest system real damagae if you starve yourself of vital nutrition.

Reminds me of year 8 survival back in high school. All I know is that when you're mountaineering and you haven't eaten in days DON'T STOP ... otherwise it just becomes that much harder to start walking again.

Another way to combat intense hunger is to chew alot. Believe it or not one way your brain determines whether you're full or not is how long you've been chewing for ... this is why if you want to diet and eat less food you spend more time chewing it rather than just gobbling it down.

Of course this won't actually help you because your brain catches on pretty quickly.

Though that being said don't you have anything better to do then just to see how long you can go without food? I mean obviously you don't work or study because if you did this plan of yours would kneecap both occupations.

I mean I can understand if you're doing this out of necessity because you didn't pack enough rations on a long hike, or because most provisions were lost due to damage. But if you're just doing it because you're bored .... well ... why? go out dancing, meet new people, make new friends, read a book, go on a two day 'bad movie' marathon to see how many crappy 80's movies and tv series you can watch before falling asleep.

Haha, oh wow.

Maybe week 2 you'd have something to talk about.
I'd have loads to say in week 2 from my hospital bed when my digestive system would fail.
The only way this could possibly be true for you was if you're already terminally ill or somehow otherwise diseased. Most healthy people can easily live a month. Very fat people can live 20+ weeks.

uhh, no, because they are so fat and are not taking in the HUGE amount of calories they are used to they would most likely die from heart failure due to shock. Maybe a little more then a month, but in that month they would shed pounds like crazy. Look at obese people who get that gastric bypass procedure, they can lose up to thirty or more pounds in just a couple weeks and they still take in nourishment.'

OT: Try squeezing some lemon and lime into a bottle of water. It still gives you some essential vitamins you needs but a very, very low caloric intacke.

It's so amazing, evrey hour that passes either my support or hate increases. I'm not feeling the hunger anymore and I'll attempt to do this for a week or maybe longer now. On a side note if anyone wants to know my motivation behind this is not out of "boredom." It's more to do with curiosity. So why hate one me when every single person on the Earth has done something that has had no logical reason behind it? Whate makes you so much different to me or anybody else on the planet?

inb4 I'm not starving myself because I'm a smart person trololololo.

hmmm, seems like kind of a silly personal-test of will, but then again forgoing food wouldn't be what I would choose to test my will with. More power to you.

3 weeks you're going for? Did you gorge the night before or something? Just like lions or wolves when they go for a while without eating...they eat so much that all they can do is lay around the next 12 hours or so.

I did eat a big meal beforehand yes. And I'm at least going for a week... If i reach that far then I'll consider going longer.
