As some of you may know the day of silence is coming up, a day supporting homosexuals. The problem for me is, one of my teachers is a very big Christian-Conservative person who went as far as to make a day at our school about exposing the "gay agenda".

Now I am afraid of what she is going to try and do when she sees me like that, what should I do to make sure that I stay out of trouble and my grades don't drop for no reason? I mean should I just hope for the best or try and hide it?

I say that 'day of silence' is a horrible idea for supporting Gay Rights. Why the hell are you supporting not talking about it for a day? That's an idiotic, horrible way to do it...

Regardless, just stay silent and move on; your teacher is obviously an idiot and if it bothers you and other people too much just take it up with her superior.

...I don't get it. Are you supposed to not talk at all, or is it a "day of silence" in a more metaphorical context?

Anyways, if your psycho-***** teacher tries to make your grades drop, bring it up with your parents or try to get some light on it. I'm pretty sure it's illegal.

Just accept your teachers views and be a good person and respect them, and he will respect your views.

Follow through with it. If she does anything, talk to the principal and your parents, and if they don't do anything, get the ACLU. She doesn't have the right to punish you for your beliefs, whatever they may be. Don't be intimidated by any threats she may make regarding your grades or anything. It's your right and a school sponsored activity.

It's referring too how many gays stay silent about who they really are because they are afraid of how friends and family are going to react. Or people too afraid of abuse they will receive if they speak out.

If your grades mysteriously drop because you are supporting gay rights, report the teacher and move on. Honestly just do your thing and don't worry what others think.

I'm more worried about her treating me harsher than the rest of the class.

Well if you feel you are being mistreated at any time, you need to go to the principal or someone in authority about it. That would be against school policy for a teacher to treat a student differently, no matter what the reason.

Well....fuck 'em.

It won't matter what they do if you don't care or pay attention. Letting them get to you is just feeding the troll.

Some people don't have such live-and-let-live views, unfortunately.

It was a few days ago that I read it, but on the Day of Silence site, it suggests that you speak to your teachers about what you plan to do beforehand, so that you could maybe negotiate a method of communication on that day. Or so you can get them to not call on you in class that day or something.
The site also states, I believe, that you do NOT have the right to remain silent if called upon in class, and you can make an exception (go ahead and answer questions and stuff) in such cases, if necessary.
It's up to you to decide if making an exception like that defeats the whole purpose.

I probably will not participate in this, unless many of my friends do, because I don't personally believe that it's really gonna help at all.
Don't get me wrong, I'm against bullying and discrimination of any kind, and I completely support LGBT rights, but I just don't think this is an effective way to protest, or whatever it's supposed to be.

Even if tha- I can't be bothered making a reason.

OT: Your fear is that your teacher would drop your grades because you suppourt homosexuals?

It is against the School Policy to treat a student differently no matter what the reason is. Especially one like this. Then again, she is Christian, I have a feeling Video Games will somehow come in...

"Now you know playing Video Games encourage homosexual thoughts in the Player."

Might happen.

If she's a big of a fool as I'm imagining her to be she will probably reveal her own idiocy.

I know in my high school they handed out buttons to students who were observing the Day of Silence. If you were wearing one then you wouldn't get called on.
