Sigh.
I wanted to read that thread so much, but spoilers! And possibly heartbreak, but mostly spoilers.Imbechile said:I said in the Tali's face thread that Bioware hit a new low, something I thought was impossible, but lo and behold! They sank even further with this.

i don't think the shit storm for ME3 is 'a brewin' any more, pretty sure its in full effect now, this will only fan the flamesgigastar said:On disc DLC files in Mass Effect 3?

And its only going to get worse when Zeel comes back.
Nothing wrong with being wrong if you recognize your mistakes at the end of the dayRJ 17 said:Well I'll be god damned...looks like I've a large platter of crow to start eating since I was one of the one's defending Bioware's side of the story...if the character's assets actually were on the disc then I was most assuredly mistaken to give them the benefit of the doubt.
Yay! I'm glad I'm not the only one who remembered that. The 'From Ashes' dlc was announced ages ago - Bioware said they were developing dlc with an extra character. This was obviously planned during development of the main game. So I'm not surprised that there are some files relevant to the dlc on the disc for the main game. This isn't proof that game content has been locked out on the main disc. It's only proof that the dlc was planned alongside development of the main game. I will wait for someone to successfully access the 'From Ashes' dlc from the disc without an additional download before I throw my dummy put of the pram.Irridium said:This was the same with Kasumi in ME2, and I believe Liara also had some dialog on the disk for the Shadow Broker stuff in that game as well.
I think we all need to just chill the fuck out.
This isn't even Project $10. That was a way of making money from people who buy used games.ace_of_something said:Is it weird that I assume all day 1 DLC is on the disc? I tend to unless told otherwise. So I'm not 'shocked' with project $10 out there having it on the disc is a time saving step for developers I'd think.
That makes me no less irritated by this skeezy practice.
... which is funny when Bioware then comes out and states that they only started work on From Ashes after Mass Effect 3 went gold.Simonoly said:Yay! I'm glad I'm not the only one who remembered that. Which they probably did. Sure there was beginning concepts of it well before the DLC process began, that content was probably cut with shreds of it left in the game.Loop Stricken said:... which is funny when Bioware then comes out and states that they only started work on From Ashes after Mass Effect 3 went gold.Simonoly said:Yay! HMM.
Yea, I thought this had been an issue for a while.Loop Stricken said:Some of us did.Arontala said:I thought people already knew this?
The Prothean was in early builds of the leaked script, but they took him out and downplayed his role in the story immensely. I'm assuming they did it for DLC purposes.
Then other people shouted us down when Bioware released their "you're all wrong, we totally made this after the game went gold" press release.
See, the haters are still the ones overreacting compared to the fanboys over protecting.GonzoGamer said:At least it seems like even the fanboys are getting fed up with this crap.Loop Stricken said:Some of us did.Arontala said:I thought people already knew this?

The question is will sales suffer enough to stop publishers from carving out game content as "bonus" stuff. I'm thinking probably no.
I'm curious as to how much they will get away with before they have to pull back. Endings being sold separately?
