There's reason to be negative. What DayZ SA has become cannot be define yet as they are trying to hide most of the features becuase "it's still in development" and what is said cannot be trusted because of the potential bias. The limited access was given to the staff, mods, and a few selected guests like FRANKIEonPC who is renowned for his possible use of hacks.

Sorry, I did once wish that Rocket would gain success but not anymore. I was going to buy it but now I'm hesitant to even buy it if it comes to 75% off in Steam.
They have a right to be secretive if they wish, and your skepticism is understandable, but the stand alone game will be reviewed. If you wait until then reviews will either praise the changes or skewer the game for wasting everyone's time. No reason to wish for them to "burn" just yet, give them time to muck something up first. :D

So... I guess I'm gonna come back and check on this tomorrow to see if this is a joke or not. I'm to poor to afford a PC to play this on, so this is pretty exciting news.

If this is an April fools joke, it's pretty cruel.

That's awfully negative of you. The game still has it's indie roots in mind, it just has the power of Bohemia Interactive behind it to make it better than it was. I for one am happy that Rocket will be able to profit off of this phenomena that he helped create.

So your issue is that the closed alpha isn't available to the public? That's kind of a bad attitude to have considering all games have closed playtesting until release. Besides, the game will be getting reviews and is now a full-fledged game as a opposed to a mod. I still don't get what your problem is. Is it because it's mainstream? Because that's a shallow attitude to have.

When I saw "Day Z" and "console" in the same sentence, my mind instantly saw the image of Xbox 360s and PS3s melting and/or exploding because the ArmA II engine would be that terrible.

Yeah, I don't have nice things to say to the ArmA II engine.

Not sure if April Fools joke...

OT: That would be fantastic news if I didn't think the next console cycle was going to fall flat on it's face right out of the gate. Still thinking about switching to PC gaming exclusively.
im pretty sure its alril fools, Hall is not that stupid. then again.....

It wouldnt be fantastic news, it would be awful news, because they woudl ahve to dumb it down to consoles. and yes, console games ARE dumbed down.

It would be a port that came out after the initial PC release, there isn't anything wrong with that. As far as dumbing it down, they would only need to streamline the controls for the console controller and probably use lower res textures.

Overall I think it would be great for sales of DayZ.

Now I am a liar. I spent hours on the BIS forums with several articles and discussions on DAYZ including its PC exclusiveness. Now all of the arguments I had on this website on null-and-void. Shit.

Haha, Mike, I'd never have guessed how hard it is to put out a legitimate story on Apr 1st about something we actually care about.

Man, I'd love to play a standalone DayZ. Though hopefully it is significantly updated.
