(Spoilers follow) literally

Action Comics is where Superman was launched and where he will be returned to after the reboot.

Batman is the ongoing series chronicling Batman himself, along with the Bat-family, whereas Detective Comics was where he debuted, and which went on to feature other debut characters, most recently Batwoman and The Question. After the relaunch batman will return to #1 and DC will return to #1, probably with characters like Batgirl/Batwoman/Nightwing/Catwoman, but no official word on that yet.

Batman was the ongoing series chronicling Batman's attempts to return to the future after Darkseid sent him to the past (just roll with it). Batman/Robin was the story of Dick Grayson and Damien Wayne (Bruce's illegitimate son by Talia al Ghul) assuming the role of Batman and Robin after Bruce's apparent death. After the relaunch Batman will return to Batman, with no word on where Nightwing (Dick Grayson) will end up yet.

Detective Comics is where most recently Batwoman and the Question have had their adventures. This will ilkely be the dumping ground for the rest of the Bat-Family post reboot.

Batwoman is most recently Kathy Kane, lesbian daughter of an army colonel/general who was inspired after a chance meeting with BMan to inspire hope in the same way that Batman does. She put together her own headquarters and gadgets with the help of her father, and was eventually found by Nightwing and allowed to join the Bat-family in a more official capacity. Most recently has fought with Renee Montoya, her on-again-off-again girlfriend, against the Religion of Crime (just roll with it) who have permeated Gotham City. No word on where she will go after the relaunch, but likely into Detective Comics.

Batgirl is the title held by four 'official' batgirls and one from the silver age no one talks about, characterised by choosing the life themselves, rather then Batman choosing them as he does Robin, usually older than Robin, though not always:

Barbara Gordon: Commisioner Gordon's daughter and the first 'real' Batgirl. Started because she was dressed in a female batman costume on the way to a masquerade ball and happening to end up fighting Killer Moth. Eventually made more official, until she was shot by the Joker and crippled below the waist, leading to her becoming the Oracle, a disabled superheroine who provides mission control for the Bat-family and also leads the Birds of Prey. Apparently will return as Batgirl post-reboot, but I don't see how what with Damian Wayne not being introduced until after she appeared (probably just roll with it)

Helena Bertinelli: During the earthquake that destroyed Gotham during No Man's Land, she acted as one of the many protectors of the city against the crime lords trying to take it over after the United States Government cut it off from the rest of America (just roll with it). Forced to abandon the role by Batman post NML, and returned to just being The Huntress, joined the Birds of Prey under Babs Gordon.

Cassandra Cain: Urgh. Trained by her father to understand the language of 'body language' instead of actual speech, was supposed to become the best assassin in the world but after she killed her first target she saw how his body responded as he died and decided never to do it again. Joined the Bat-family post-NML and became Batgirl, though eventually left to join the League of Assassins, and returned committing grisly murders and apparently able to speak Navajo as well as English, defeated by Robin and returned to her role as an altruist. later revealed that she had been mind controlled by Deathstroke the Terminator to be evil, but her character has never quite recovered. (Just...just...just...)

Stephanie Brown: Previously the superhero 'The Spoiler' she foiled her father's crimes (he was the supervillain the Cluemaster) and then pestered Batman to take her on as the new Robin, he eventually accepted, but she thought that he didn't seem to trust her as much as the other Robins, and desperate for his approval accidentally triggered a gang war that tore Gotham apart. Apparently killed by Black Mask at the end of the war crimes arc she was revealed to have been kept alive by Doctor Leslie Thompson, and returned to take the manlte and costume from Cassandra Cain, continuing unnoticed until Oracle caught up with her. She eventually convinced Babs who inducted her formally in as the new Batgirl.

So there you go, seventy years in as short as I can write it.

After Bruce Wayne 'died' there was a series called 'Battle for the Cowl' where all the previous Robins, Dick Grayon, Jason Todd and Tim Drake, plus a couple of other Batman mythos characters, such as Damien Wayne, the Huntress and a few others I can't remember right now, all fought for the right to assume the costume, because they decided that someone had to be Batman and continue to be a symbol of hope.

Eventually Dick Grayson won, and became Batman. Tim Drake was angry at this and left to become 'Red Robin,' his own separate character, and Jason Todd is practically a bad guy right now so he just carried on doing his own thing. Dick Grayson decided to take Damien Wayne on as his Robin. So that was what Batman/Robin focused on, both Dick Drayson as the new Batman and Damien Wayne as the new Robin.

Meanwhile, thousands of miles away...

Bruce Wayne didn't actually die, he was transported into the past by Darkseid during Final Crisis, and lived through history, seeing how Gotham City was born. Eventually he returned to the present and retook the Batman cowl, but left Dick as Batman in Gotham while he went to spread the teachings of Batman through the world (I am dead serious) through a series called 'Batman Incorporated' which aimed to foster Batmen across the world in the cities that needed it most. See the 'Batwing' character in another thread in off-topic for one of those Batmen.

I feel kind of like Ace Ventura now

*Deep breath*

When DC Comics reboots the idea is to bring Bruce Wayne back as Batman, for Gotham City, the one and only, with Damien Wayne as his Robin, while Dick Grayson presumably returns to being Nightwing, possibly in Bludhaven, which was the city he guarded while under said supranym.

Yeah. COMICS. ARE. WEIRD!

EDIT: The Justice League

(my knowledge is a little fuzzy here, I prefer Young Justice)

The Justice League is also known as the Justice League of America. They are a rotating team of superheroes who work together to fight big evils. There's not much more too it, the lineup changes a lot so it would be pointless to even start listing them, to the point where it's practically included every single superhero in the DC universe at one point or another.

Young Justice is where the kids go (Superboy, Impulse, Tim Drake's Robin), and there is no 'Dark Justice League' in the original continuity, this looks like an entirely reboot thing, which will feature more obscure and, well, darker heroes like John Constantine, Swamp Thing etc.

The Justice League and the JLA are the same thing, but the focus for the reboot seems to be the idea of 'global superheroes' instead of simply American superheroes, like that thing where Superman gave up his American Citizenship to become a helper of the world, so it'll be called the Justice League, implying it helps everyone, not just America.

And for more comics are weird, the Justice League watchtower is a base on the moon, usually staffed by Batman. Just to be completely insane.

Justice League will supposedly be the traditional mainstream heroes, Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, The Flash, Aquaman. There are a few others as well, though the only one I remember is that Cyborg is going to become a part. Also, it's going to be written by Geoff Johns, who's one of the (if not just the) best writers at DC, so you should look forward to some top notch storytelling.

Justice League Dark is supposed to be some of DC's supernatural heroes, Deadman is the only one I was even moderately familiar with, but I've read some others are John Constantine, Shade the Changing Man, and Madame Xanadu. It sounds like it could definitely have some promise, so it might be worth checking out.

I'll admit, I have read Batman: The Return of Bruce Wayne (the collected name for it) about twenty times and I still don't get half of what Grant Morrison was talking about.

Time Drake is alive and well. Jason Todd died, but during Infinitie Crisis, Superboy punched reality and broke it, which led to all the possible realities being compounded into one, which changed a lot of stuff in the DC Universe, including many characters (like Power-Girl's) backstories, and also meant that the reality where Jason Todd died and was buried got merged with the one where he didn't die, so he 'came back to life' (technically) in his coffin several months after being buried and had to climb out.

And Batman only lived for a day at a time in several different points in history, caveman days, the settling of Gotham by puritans, on a pirate ship with Blackbeard, the old west, and finally the night his parents died. Along the way he was gathering up Omega energy which Darkseid had infused him with, and if he reached the 21st century while infused with it he would destroy reality. However, he left himself clues throughout time as to who he was and how he got there (sort of, given that he had amnesia when he first arrived, but later was in control of a sort of time machine, it's very very confusing) and so he found a way to get rid of his omega energy when he arrived, and he had only aged five days.
