Here's a novel idea. I know many comic book fans may not like it, but hear me out!

See, I was thinking maybe if you want to convince people that have always been interested in comics, but haven't figured it was worth the effort to try and get involved in the continuity mess of a bazillion comics all sharing stories and history and not knowing where to even start if they did want to make that effort, perhaps the best way to attract those people is not to start 52 new comics at once.

The thing is, aside from Batman, DC's roster is just bland and uninteresting. Marvel have literally hundreds of characters to work with in their comics, and they usually do, but while DC have a decent amount of heroes, they only ever use Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, Green Arrow, Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter and Aquaman.

This whole reboot of the entire universe reeks of 'desperate attention-seeking' to me, and judging by the looks of it, a fair amount of people think so too.
No no no no no no no. The DC roster is huge and full of deep, interesting characters with fantastic stories written by the most talented authors in the industry. You want proof? Read 52, one of DC's finest accomplishments.
The current state of Marvel comics is very... eugh. Brian Michael Bendis has done Marvel no favours through the past few years. Millar's Civil War was fantastic and the Dark Avengers story was really interesting but, apart from that, Marvel has been very lacklustre.
DC is currently at the top of it's game, thanks to Geoff Johns, Peter J. Tomassi and Grant Morrison. I can recommend at least 10 great miniseries' (such as Blackest Night, Sinestro Corps War, Identity Crisis, Batman & Robin, Dastardly Death Of The Rogues) by DC that wipe the floor with current Marvel stuff. X-Men hasn't been good since Whedon stopped writing Astonishing X-Men, sadly.

OT: I'm in two minds about the reboot. On the one hand, most of the changes DC have made in the past, like Crisis On Infinite Earths and Infinite Crisis, were brilliant and helped straighten out the world when it's all become a bit of a mess so maybe this will have the same effect. With Morrison now writing Action Comics, I have very high hopes for Superman. On the other hand, I have no idea why there's now Detective Comics, Batman, The Dark Knight and Batgirl. That's just confusing and ridiculous right off the bat.

It depends on how it's going to play out. If they're going to reintroduce all of the established heroes and villains then that's gonna be sad and tedious but if they keep it fresh and interesting, like Marvel did with the Ultimate universe, then this could be fantastic.

And having Damian Wayne stay on as Robin as really piqued my interests immediately.
har har right off the "bat" did you know that you were making quite the pun?
Hah! No I didn't. Ahh, I wanna say something like 'I'm a poet and didn't even know it' but with puns... hmm, nope, I got nothing.
Well that was Hilarious, afully "punny"
'Badum pish!'

Also I've gotta say I'm glad that Morrison is in charge of Superman but I'm even more glad that he's not writing Batman. I mean Batman & Robin was amazing, really really fantastic but The Return Of Bruce Wayne was a mess of convoluted mumbo jumbo and was very obviously rushed and that really made me want Batman to switch hands once again. So yay for that!
I'm also really excited for some of the more original series' like Red Lanterns. And I'm definitely gonna be reading Aquaman because he's the one DC hero I've always wanted to read but never managed to get into.

Actually, all of this reboot talk has made me realise that I'm a lot more excited about the reboot than I thought I was... actually, I can't wait for it! Bring it on!
Dude I share you're excitement for the new Action Comics and Aquaman, also can't wait for more Scott snyder awesomeness on Batman. For a really confusing Morrison Batman, you should read "The Black Glove" its the prequel to Batman R.I.P.
I actually read RIP quite late but was told by a friend that I should read The Black Glove first, so I did and... owwwww, my head! I had no idea what the three replacement Batmen were and had to spend like 20 mins wiki-ing them. That's my problem with Morrison, he references and returns to stories that were written 20 years ago, stories which I have no idea about, as if we should all have no problem following it all. Also, Batman foreseeing his arm being cut off and so attaching a fake one before being knocked out... uh, what? Morrison explanation: 'he's Batman, he survives! Surviving is what he does!' No, that doesn't cut it; not good enough!

I'm normally more of a Marvel fan, so the reboot doesn't worry me too much. I am however a bit annoyed that Gail Simone (my favourite writer in DC) is being moved from Birds of Prey to Firestorm.

The Flash is my favorite Superhero, but I have no idea who this guy writing the new Flash comic is.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Francis_Manapul

I hope Geoff Johns rubbed off on him while he did the art for the old Flash series, because I really don't want Flash to fail.

Side note, anyone seeing a slight pattern with Geoff Johns on Cyborg? First he makes him the preeminent superhero of the world in place of Superman in Flashpoint, and now he's one of the main 7 members of the Justice League? I don't mind this small love affair he seems to have with Cy, because I like Cyborg a lot (though I only really know him from the Teen Titans cartoon), but it strikes me as a little weird. Not bad, though... just weird.

Also happy to see Wally West back as Kid Flash. Bart Allen isn't awful, but Wally is probably the best Flash, and definitely the best Kid Flash.

Yeah Batman is awesomeness to the nth degree, but even he can't foresee having his arm cut off

yeah I've really noticed how John's loves him some Cyborg, he's even been inserting him into the DC media for the past couple months, he hate's the Manhunter though
