I'm on Bloodstorm server (PC Europe), and the server number is always at low, even during peak times.

HAs anyone heard anything about why this is? I've tried google, but just found a message board thread from 1st march talking about this in the US and thoroughly debunking it.

I'm close to closing my account if i cant get some P's to PvP with :p

Well I hate to point this out, but it is not a problem with the servers or anyones connection, the problem is all in the game. I am not trolling, but it is a really bad game. I was going to buy it, but was talked out of it by the person (who makes comission on sales) i was going to buy it from. I watched a friend play it for a bit, and even that was boring.

Actually, I find the gameplay extremely enjoyable. It's just that after I reached maximum level, there didn't appear to be any Leagues to join. This hindered me somewhat when it came to endgame. That's why I left the game earlier this month. I don't know about others, but the game definately seems to have very little players these days. It's a pity, 'cause the game was really fun. I'm just glad that I didn't buy the lifetime subscription.

1. No/bad advertising. I had never heard of the game until some people I subscribe to on Youtube posted videos of them playing it. I'm 100% sure that my friends still doesn't know it exists.

2. It doesn't look fun at all(to me that is). It looks like the usual run-of-the-mill MMO. The only unique feature it seems to have is more free movement and a big open world use that in. Also, the game just seems like an improved version of Champions Online(gamewise, Champions still has better customization).

3. I heard it doesn't have much endgame content.

They recently released a content patch, with a focus on Catwoman. However, due to the lack of other players, I was unable to see any of the new content. They intend to do a lot of content patches, I believe.

Probably because the game is boring. I was on a trial account, and although it was amusing for a while, and the character creation was fun, it just didn't have what it takes to keep me in. And I assume that a lot of people felt the same.

Ya it seems like the typical MMO launch, runs for a few months then they haveto start cutting down servers because people leave and after the initial hype fewer and fewer people come in and eventually it all dies out.

But hey it's good for people who are easily addicted.

Just play Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, it has about the same length of content and is very similar

To be honest it's 30 levels doing the exact same quest, all the bosses are the same with a few exceptions (raven fight, were you have to kick her ass elite four style).

There is no different quests and it makes the game so boring to do, it's beat up X amount of people, beat up people then interact with them, beat them up and take them somewhere, collect something or interact with something.

Every instant, quest and raid is one or a mix of those quests.

From what I heard its just because the game is not very good... Apparently even casual players run outta shit to do within a month.
As someone who brought the game on its release date, pretty much this.
There were also problems such as almost all the quests (minus a couple) were the same for both factions, and a bunch of other problems I can't be fuct to remember.
All in all, it was ok..ish, but only for the free month.

The game is very flawed. It has great voice acting and I love the feel of the world but that can't carry the game more than a day or so.

The powers system is fundamentally flawed. You can hardly use your powers in a superhero game. Each power consumes 1/4 to 1/3 of your entire energy bar and it regenerates at a crawl. So your superhero can hardly use super powers. That is the powers that dont use the horribly designed 'supercharge' bar which regenerates via attacking enemies at a crawl with minor taps to build combo's while they're hitting you for giant damage and dying.

The NPC enemies are horribly overpowered. Your superman will get beat to hell and back from level 7-8 onwards when the difficulty curve turns into a difficulty mountain.

This might be tolerable if not for the horribly done targeting system which doesn't care how far away enemies are and will have you attacking enemies or barrels across the screen while an overpowered minion is wailing on you for 1/4 of your life per hit.

The power trees are horribly designed and balanced, and some make no sense at all for the context of what the heroes who use them in the comics are supposed to be (like the shapeshifting set which is the worst offender)

The button layout is retarded. To use your fast travel power you have to hold the same button thats turns off your power, which leads to you falling out of the sky or stopping while trying to fast travel more often than not.

Here is my summary on my feelings for the game from another forum I visit. It goes into this and other things but is kinda ranty.

I got into DC Universe Online yesterday.

The game's difficulty kind of throws you off a cliff at about level 7-8, there is no slope. Enemies go from hitting you for 3-10 to about 50-80ish. Its pretty ridiculous.

Maybe its cause I'm playing a brawler / shapeshifter though. Pterodactyl is about my only form that does anything worth a dang. I got werewolf form and was hugely excited to start tearing sh*t up with my claws, but it lowers my damage output with basic combo's from brawler form and I feel horribly squishy. Its got to be bugged or else someone was smoking something when they made it. Maybe if they told us what these 'unique combo's' were, I've noticed a few 50's in my combo's since getting it, but for the most part my basic button taps are doing 3-4 and my holds are doing about 18-20, and at 9th level that's terrible.

Picked up regeneration, was horribly disappointed in it. I expected to slowly heal over time or toggle it on for a small HoT, but its a click 10s godmode without a cooldown timer.. apparently it comes back as you earn some super gauge and takes 50% super gauge, but i've been questing for 30 minutes without getting it back before now. Super disappointment.

I was reading around and apparently gorilla form is the basic go-to for shapeshifters for damage output and wolf form is pointless except for gimmicks.. I am really hoping for a patch on that one. Seems counter-intuitive.

Day 2

Edit. Ok, i'm seriously disappointed in the shapeshifting set overall. I expected to go into this as beastboy. Turing into a wolf for fast attacks, jumping out of the way, charging the enemy as a Bull or whatever and bowling them over, turning into a pterodactyl and flying away and wing attacking.. whatever.

Instead I picked up 'metabolism' from the shapeshift set and haven't had a reason to shapeshift since. metabolism is a click that takes about 20%ish of your energy and gives you a small but decent HoT (maybe 1/6th of your life) and a pretty decent damage boost (maybe 35% iirc).

So now my shapeshifter is just running around punching things in human form since this heal+dps boost cannot be used in shapeshift form. And its in the shapeshifting set. And it makes your human form better than the shapeshift forms.

Well, actually it can be used in one shapeshift form that I know of. The gorilla form. I took that and its pretty solid, fights maybe slightly better than the human form. But it used the aforementioned super guage that takes a while to build up, about 15-20% of it. Only its got the number one stupid thing I cannot stand in any shapeshifting be it game, novel, TV or movie: a duration. Of about 30 seconds. The thing that makes the least sense for the concept (personal opinion). So I don't touch it since it makes no sense for the character and I can't stand turning back in the middle of a fight, and I need that super guage for my emergency heal, which you need all the time due to the stupid borked targetting system.

Also took some bug-man form that can only be used in healing mode that has no heals. [edit] Ok the metabolism power can be used in this form.

All in all i'm horribly disappointed in this entire set. Its like... what the heck were they thinking?

Its got little synergy, the shifts make little sense, it fights nothing like the iconic comic book character it was designed around (except the pterodactyl form, which cannot use the #1 saving grace metabolism power but has nice swoop attacks) and it feels bugged in practice. The entire set as a whole is outfought by the basic human form + metabolism. Sure, its nice flying around as a pterodactyl (again, the only form worth a dang in the set thus far) but all in all this entire set makes me feel nothing like a shapeshifter. I don't even know what kind of niche they were going for here, but it certainly wasn't an emulation of beast boy. I expected a DPS form, a crowd control form, a tank form and a flight form. Instead we've got werewolves and bugmen. The gorilla doesn't use the awesome gorilla model the NPC's use and instead you turn into some 32 bit looking ugly-az yeti.

Anyway, just needed to rant. I've been waiting for a superhero game with shapeshifting for years, and this was all in all a huge disappointment and I feel like I've been wasting my time.
