I liked City of Heroes and Champions Online and this looks better than both of those.
Unfortunately, it's not.
It's better than CO, even if the costume bit is Way less.
And it feels awesome to begin with.
But you can level to 30 in a few days and then the grind like no-other kicks in.
Fun to play for a bit, not a long lasting game by any stretch.
And City of Heroes/Villains is now free: so why bother settling for the less of the two?
I tried City of Heroes, but the graphics just got too muddy in many places for me to make out what was going on, that's always a turn off for me.
What stopped ME from playing was that it was a laggy ***** for no reason.
This game is amazing, and defintly refreshing, for the record, the FARTHEST I ever dug into DC was literally the few Batman movies, the games that recently came out and the TV shows that were on Cartoon Network, being able to explore a city that is BOTH a hybrid of the city I remember from the cartoons and one of the books makes me happy again. For me, definetly better then EVERY other Hero themed MMO on the market, counting that you can just buy something for 5$ on the Item Shop makes the game 100% better, since you pay a small fee for more of the game.

I agree, I've played it on PC and am currently downloading it on PS3.
I wish I could make a group as a f2p member because my friend always loses me whenever I use superspeed...
Do 1 of 2 things.
1: Whisper to your buddy on where to meet, I usually do this while in shout, but works perfectly, choose a area near the area you want and then ask him to meet you there, after getting there, turn off powers and walk or jump from rooftop to rooftop with him following to get to your location.
2: Share the quest with your friend and you will BOTH have the same objectives.

Eh, I tried DCUO in beta. I threw up my hands during character creation when I saw how limited it was compared to CoX and CO.
Then I tried it again after cooling my heels, and gave up after the tutorial after noticing just how damn button mashy it was. Phantasy Star Online did the whole online action RPG thing better ten years prior.
Long story short: There is a reason why this game has gone F2P in less than a year from its launch.
Not that it was poorly designed, but mainly that it was made with console in mind, and trying to sell a console gamer a MMO is like trying to sell a bobcat to Ocelot, IT JUST WON'T WORK!
[sub]Bonus points if you get the Dorkly reference.[/sub]
Thats the only reason I can think that it has done poorly, simply because of the target audience wasn't there. I share many views with Total Biscuit on this game, its competently made, its combat is thrilling and offers large variants on what you do / want to do. It may be button mashy, but the combat is fun in short doses, its really different then other Super Hero MMOs or action MMOs out there, reminds me of what Guild Wars 2 will be like, a weird hybrid of standard Hotbar MMOs and action ones.
