de best game evar

so lately me and a buddy have argued over the so called best game ever TLOZ: ocarina of time.
my argument is that there is no best game ever since you cannot compare one game of a genre to a game of another, for exampel you cannot compare WOW to COD since there not the same type of genre, i do agree that ocarina of time may be the best adventure game of all time but you cant say ocarina of time is a better shooter then say wolfenstein.

(also he argued that because ocarina of time is the best game ever it cant be compared to other games wich is ****ing BS)

now what are your thoughts on the subjeckt? is ocarina of time the best game ever or is my friend ****ing stupid?

This is the reason why I don't have a favourite game. I play a wide rage. Also, no matter how original, no game ever makes me think it's my favourite. But I do have ones I find important, and ones I really like. But most being nostalgia.

Whenever talking about the best games ever made, I normally consider the usual contenders to be the most important games ever made, not necessarily the best. For example, the three one normally sees at the top of these lists (Half-Life 2, Final Fantasy VII, Ocarina of Time) were all incredibly important and valuable games to the industry and the culture, games that both revolutionized the medium and were fantastically constructed in their own right.

I get it, you mean milestones in gaming.

Typically the best contenders for this are Shadow of the Colossus, Portal, Half-Life 2 and a few more. It is hard to pick a definative winner

But if we were talking about MY personal favorite games that have consumed most of MY time that I keep coming back to over and over again then i'd say it's between:-

Sonic 2
Unreal Tournament
Baldurs Gate 2
Mortal Combat 3
Toejam & Earl
and maybe DC Universe... but i shall have to see if it stands the test of time... after a month though i'm still playing and still get excited when I see the heroes I have grew up with.

"Best game ever" is a personal preference. You can't be objective about it. You can talk about "my favorite game ever", or "what's best for me", but that's the extent of the discussion. It's about time people got this through their skulls.
