For me, DE:HR was too easy. Even on Give Me Deus Ex difficulty (PC).

It's my first playthrough and I'm at the final boss...

I have a fully modded 10mm pistol with over 400 rounds of ammo, a fully modded revolver with over 150 rounds of ammo, a grenade launcher with 12 rounds, a laser rifle with a 2000 unit charge, 15 typhoon ammo, 5 hypostims, 5 painkillers, 6 emp grenades...

I haven't fired the grenade launcher at all, have used the typhoon twice and have fired the revolver only at the fight with Namir.

My conclusion: I hogged too much. Stealth, non-lethal takedowns (stealth again) and a fully modded 10mm pistol (stealth yet again) is more than enough for the predominant part of the game.

Basically I played it like MGS while expecting (and preparing for) Resident Evil style "trouble"...and this is the result. A walking armory that went more or less unused.

So what were your expectations (not necessarily gameplay focused) when you started playing...and what are your conclusions?

Happy? Sad? Disgusted? Something else?

Expected to love it, loved it.

If it's too easy, find ways to challenge yourself. Do a non-lethal no-augs run.

I went in with no expectations.

Ever since buying Alan Wake last year on a whim, I've decided that every year I'm going to gamble and buy a game that intrigues me but I know little about.

This year, it was Deus Ex: Human Revolution, and it's my new favorite game.

I went into it never having played either of the previous Deus Ex games, though I heard Invisible War was beyond flat out bad. Honestly I fell in love with the game. I did a Pacifist run on my first try ever, on Give Me Deus Ex, and I must say, I was a bit disappoint with the boss fights. Not at their difficulty or anything like that, but because they're all super unrealistically powerful monsters. Namir I can understand because his entire body is one massive augmentation, but Barrett and Fedorova? As far as I'm concerned, Barrett is still human, and it should not take me 50 billion Revolver rounds to the head to kill him. .______.

I thought it was reasonably challenging, though it kind of had a reverse difficulty curve. The first few combat missions are hard as hell, but the enemies don't get much more difficult as you go on. And then in the last zone the majority of the enemies don't put up any challenge at all, even if you're trying to go non-lethal. And maxing out hacking means you can pretty much go anywhere you want.

I'm trying it again, going for non-lethal with only level 2 hacking. That should be a good challenge.

I actually liked it. My first runthrough was "pacifist" then i realised halfway through they expect you to completely stealth the first bit.

So of course, I switched builds on the fly and focused on fun jumping around killing people. I think the choice only matters at the start of the game on purpose because later on you pretty much want to do everything and they let me.

Also, all the bosses were amazingly easy. EMP mine + explosive revolver = win in five seconds.

I stockpiled on Typhoon ammo only to have used it, probably, four times. I had about 23 of that shit when I was done. Also, I had a ton of rockets and only really used my combat rifle, so I had a zillion 10mm pistol rounds and a warehouse full of grenades and machine pistol shells.

I'm annoyed because I somehow switched the setting to "Give me Deus Ex" without realizing it (early), so I didn't get the achievement. I never play games on hard (only medium), and this game wasn't too difficult at all. The only thing that annoyed me was the fact that if I somehow lost a little cover, I'm dead within a few shots. I swear, for all those augs and that armor, I expect to be a little stronger than jello. I don't even care about the actual dieing or the flimsy life expectancy, it was the dreadful loading times I had to endure.

Overall, I loved the game.
