I enjoyed Dead Island, it had its short comings, but I did go back to it for the last month while waiting for Diablo to go live.

It doesn't really need a sequel.

Too bad, after all the issues were taken care of (such as a release version being downloaded from Steam), it was an awesome game. I loved it. I didn't care for the setting all that much, but the game itself and what it attempted to do (most of which was successful in my book) was really good(IMO).

There is a particular Kickstarter game I backed coming about that I am excited about called The Dead Linger. Sandbox Zombie Survival Horror with a giant randomly generated world. Dead Island scratched the itch for that, but that is gonna be the one, I hope.

Well whenever they do get to making it, they should work on making the next one more story driven, change the fucking scaling, and improve the gameplay a bit, also make guns useful ever. Either way I would probably buy it as long as it doesn't look terrible since I do like the first one a lot.
Guns are useful, just more so against other humans then the zombies. Although I will admit that is odd.
My problem is that when fighting Zombies guns are pretty much worthless as a Headshot does not kill them and most of them are weaker than most melee weapons at the same level, so unless you were Purna, there is very little reason to use them. The guns should have been a lot rarer and did a lot more damage to zombies.

I <3 Susan, but this game's loading times were AT-ROC-IOUS. God, it made you afraid to ever want to enter new areas, let alone 'huts' that took like 50 seconds ONE-way

Do people really want a Dead Island 2? Dead Island came in just behind Brink on my "bad game purchases of the year" list. And yes... I really have that list. -.-
Well, I enjoyed Brink, so I think its suffice to say that your list doesnt encompass the whole of gamers tastes... though I do actually agree some on Dead Island. There may have been some fun aspects, but the broken shit clouded the good...
Don't get me wrong I am not so arrogant to assume everyone has my particular tastes, but they both failed me for the same reason which is why I mentioned Brink. They had true potential to not only break the monotony of current gamming but also be good. In the end they both felt like rushed games though. Bad story, shoddy controls, glitches, etc.

Gameplay-wise, Dead Island's only problem was the level scaling. There was something annoying about using a brokan oar to kill a zombie at the beginning, and then later on, breaking my sword on a single infected. But story-wise, that game was fucking terrible. I was actually half hoping for a really decent zombie survival game with solid gameplay and solid story/characterisation. What we got was a mediocre story, and about three cutscenes and a two minute speel at the beginning showing anything remotely like so,me character focused writing.

The only reason I'd accept a DI2 is if the writing team were shot and replaced by the original writer from Mass Effect 1/2. And from the majority of ME3 (Minus the ending. Which wasn't bad, just not good).

I was exceptionally disappointed with Dead Island. Maybe I'm just too big on Condemned but I found the combat, while having a good amount of weight to the feel of the hits when you connect, was killed by its targeting system. The quests were boring and I never gave a rat's ass about any of the survivors because they were either driven by dumb AI or glued to the damn floor. The UI got on my plumbs a bit too, and adding a leveling system seemed pointless to me. I did like the variety of weapons and the upgrade system, though. I never did play any multiplier, so I suppose I might not have gotten the complete experience.

I like the team and what they set out to do though. They just kinda stunk at it. I'm really liking what I'm seeing of spec ops though, and I'm happy to see them move away from melee combat and zombies to try something else.
