Just threw this out here in the off-topic discussion to be safe, not sure where else I might throw it.

Ok, basically, there's a spot on my laptop screen where there are an increasing number of pixels that were turning black and it was getting a little, annoying to say the least. So, I had read somewhere that it helps get them working again if you put pressure directly on the area where the dead pixels are. And to some degree, it did help, they're no longer dead, just miscolored...albeit it's a somewhat larger area now.

Basically, my point is, do any of you know any at-home fixes that don't require me shipping my laptop back, or did I already basically try the best one?

You can cycle the screen really quickly, and that can sometimes fix it.

I found this thing [http://www.jscreenfix.com/] that claims it can help.

For that particular fix you are supposed to apply pressure while the screen is off and turn it on while still maintaining pressure. If it increased in area you didn't focus the pressure enough.

Hopefully you have (and it sounds like it) stuck pixels as opposed to genuinely dead ones. If it had been dead I don't think you would have got any change at all.

I've used this *once* a while back and it worked for me.

But depends on the exact problem.
