I do think that they should have a mode that removes the timer, and it's more of a screw around thing. It should only be accessed after you complete the story, and it should allow you to go through the story at your own pace (psychos show up at their original time in the story, but if you miss them the time of the game will eventually roll over, and they'll appear again).
That would be a great idea

Also I'm sorry if this sounds like I'm hating, but Mas Effect 2 was incredibly linear, and in my honest opinion, it had very little replayability. The side missions were good and all, and the difference between paragon and Renegade can sometimes seem cool. But in the end your main objective is conntected to everything, and once you do every side quest (which I did in my first playthrough), your second feels stale. You've done everything, and now the only option is to go through again, this time while being evil instead of good, or vice versa.
True, but the difference is that playing ME2 a second time is there as an option if you really enjoyed it, in Dead Rising it was a necessity in order to see the final missions.

I didn't buy the first one and I doubt I'l buy this. I don't like it because firstly it's only on the Xbox and secondly because there is no character customisation.

I had no problem exploring the mall in the first game. The timers and save points only made it more interesting to do so. If you could just run around the whole thing without any consequences or timed events then it would be a very simple and boring game.

I don't have a problem with any of the things you mentioned.

1:The timer is there to create tension, and it fits very well into the story. Without it you would have all the time in the world to do anything in the game. While that would be great in a Free Play mode, having that in the actual story mode would make the game suck. I like games that pose a challenge, instead of this modern "even a baby could beat it" approach.

2: Having multiple endings in a game is always neat I think. Having them in a game where your level and abilities carry over to the new game? That is perfect! More games should do this.

3: While the survivors was a pain in the ass in the first game, Case Zero shows that they have mostly fixed that. I had no trouble at all with the AI in DR2:CZ. The video you put up there kinda make me think you want to hate the game without giving it a chance. The survivor they are having such trouble saving? She is injured. You have to carry her. While that sounds frustrating, it works very well since you can kick zombies away. Hell, I will go so far as to say that saving the survivors in Case Zero was a delight compared to doing so in the first game.

4: I loved the save system in the first game. I like that they have added two more slots, but I wouldn't mind if they didn't.

So you know what? To me it seems they have made another great game. Exactly the game I wanted them to make. I am part of the community. Thus, they listen to the community.

I totally loved Dead Rising. I did want to hurt Ottis though.

1. What do you mean by explore it "properly"? You could explore all you wanted & screw around all you wanted, all while making Frank more powerful, (aka level him up). What more do you want? Please don't tell me you're one of those anal retentive/obsessive compulsive types who aren't happy just because they can't explore everything AND beat the game in 1 play through. The timer fit perfectly with the story.

2.It's called replayability. You were supposed to be doing all that exploring you wanted to do while playing through multiple times. As Frank levels up, you can do more moves & hold more items. That allows you to play the game differently. I remember, after I beat the game many times with a fully leveled up Frank, I used a guest profile to start it fresh. It felt like a different game with a level 1 Frank.

3. Yeah, AI was retarded. Don't give them the shotgun. That's for sure. (At least wounds from friendly fire didn't hurt much.) The trick was to tell them to "go there" while you clear a path for them. It wasn't too bad after I figured that out.

4. The save system in DR didn't bother me much.
-------------------------------------
All that doesn't stop me from being very disappointed in Case Zero, but for different reasons. (I only played the demo.) My gripe is that CZ feels like a cheap knock-off of DR. The sounds & attacks for the weapons feel weak & generic. DR sounds felt intense & visceral. In CZ, even an exploding propane tank feels meh. CZ also lacks DR's humor. Maybe the full game has more, but I didn't see much in the demo. Even if the humor's still there, it's hard to take the time to laugh at something with those quicker zombies out to get you. (There always seems to be 1 or 2 fast zombies that practically run right to you.)

The only major gripe I had with Dead Rising was the small text and Otis. As long as they got rid of that stuff, I'll buy it and escorting the AI became pretty simple when arming them with a gun and then you just take the gun back from them before you bring them back.
Pretty much. Small text, wow. I thought it was the focus on my screen till I played it at my cousin's house on a 32 inch just for the words to seem clear. As for survivors, it is annoying but, very possible for the saint achievement (50 survivors), just give them an uzi. Oh and the frikin cell phone... gawd...

Im going to get DR2 when it becomes cheap.

2. Maybe I was lucky, but I only went through and finished it once, low level, but I made it.
All the way to the secret end? To the zombie tunnel and fight with the military guy on the tank?

That's pretty hardcore if you managed that low level.
I am confused. i was under the impression that it was much easier. i don't remember what level i was, but i'm pretty sure i was under 25. I fought the guy on the tank and he was pretty easy, he'd block any attack that wasn't a roundhouse-kick or a knee-drop. so i just had to spam those.
I went through the game again, this time i came out a much higher level. He blocked everything i swear. I even looked up the more complex fighting techniques Frank teaches himself... they didn't do anything.
So maybe my gaming experience was just... messed up or something, but i was much under the impression that he was harder to fight the higher the level you were.

Just want to state that you cant base the "slow/stupid" ai on that video. The guy playing it has no idea how to play. Sharon isnt meant to walk by herself. You pick her up and carry her. You can easily run through all those zombies with her in your arms no problem.Of course she is going to take forever to get there if he just lets her walk with a twisted ankle....sheesh. I found that the AI is much improved in Case 0 compared to DR1. They actually push through the zombies and attack more frequently. Also noticed that I havent had a survivor been grabbed yet this time around.

Sure, you have a point with the timer, but that doesnt bother me as I think it adds to it. What they should/could have done is maybe add a free play mode as an option for those who just want to muck about with zombies.

More saves are nice.

Don't understand much of the bitching when DR2 has 3 saves and, given the first game had them too, multiple endings (Even Case Zero has them).

And for the timer: Ever played Dead Rising 1 without following the missions, thus not having to deal with time limits except the 3 day one?
Without a bit of pressure and a structure, killing Zombies in DR gets old FAST.

And even if you have a different opinion about that, it doesn't matter, you can still reserve one of the three save slots for a "Freeform" Save in wich you don't care for the story and screw around. And if you want to play the story, you just load your "real" save again.

I hate, hate, hate the timer. This game was fun to mess around in, but I hated the fact that I was timed while doing everything.

Look, I understand there are people who like it, but that is what modes like "Realism," "Challenge" and "Hardcore" are for. Even Fallout New Vegas isn't foolish enough to limit players to the mode where ammo has weight, and if you don't drink water occasionally you'll die.

I might play such modes eventually, but I like to get a feel for the game before I am punished by things like timers and having to drink water.

And, I saw someone respond that you can dick around if you like, but when the whole point of the game is to rescue people, and you can't rescue Sally unless you are in front of the Sport's store at exactly 3:30, you can't exactly dick around and play the game.

I do not want to be forced to playthrough a game on hardcore mode before I can go to easy mode. So, no, I will not be buying this game.

i may rent it because i enjoy going around a mashing zombie skulls in with a variety of melee weapons, but i probably won't buy it unless it comes out real cheap.

They got rid of Otis, the camera, and improved the A.I., all things I wished were worked on.

I don't mind the saving system, forces me to learn the the layout and the overall quickest paths in the game.

Time limit I'm fine with as well. As Frybird there mentions, it get old right quickly if you are just killing zombies (Zombie Genocide proved that right away for me in the first game) with no real push to move onward.
Plus with a time limit, you get what most games haven't had in a while. A chance to learn, practice at, and eventually do a perfect run through accomplishing everything in the least amount of time. Not something for everyone to try, much like speed runs in general or getting 100% of a map/collecting every orb thing, but for those of us who want it's a great incentive.
The story is focused on time, play Case Zero and see that, which wouldn't be as effective otherwise without it. Yes Resident Evil and Silent Hill don't have it, but they don't need it with their mostly linear story paths.

There are plenty of open world games to play with no time limit, you can explore to your heart's content, and kill a bunch of mindless enemies with completion of the story at your own pace. If Dead Rising's system isn't for you, well plenty of similar titles you can enjoy and a few others with cheat mode that will come close. Hulk: Ultimate Destruction is a fun hidden gem.

The survivors are much better and the timer seems alot less restrictive this time but it's still annoying you have to go through the game several times to do everything but you get to restart and keep all your stuff in terms of exp which is good I hope they keep that in the game beacuse you could reach a point where your just buggered. The guns seem useful this time around unlike last time where it was a bit of a hinderence to have a gun. You can walk while aiming with an assault rifle which i don't think you could do last time.
