So for a while now i've seen dead rising 2 everywhere, all my friend either have or want it and its all over youtube and the escapist.

but in all honesty.... i am really struggling to get what is the big deal. I hated the original, i just found it too hard and i got sick of missing 1/2 my brain. so is dead rising 2 worth getting? is it getting so much attention because its a great game? or is it a remake of the original thats getting publicity because "hey I'm killing zombies with a teddy bear machine gun turret"

Just go and rent it, if you like it buy it, otherwise you just saved some cash.

I have it on PS3 and I haven't played the first but apparently it's alot like the first, so take from that what you will.

I like it, it isn't what I expected and it does have flaws.

It wasn't really hyped like some other select titles but yeah, I though this game was boring as fuck, just like the first. Overrated in my book.

Just because something is hard doesn't mean it's bad.
But so long as you keep a good supply of food, and experiment a little, it's some of the most fun I've had in yonks. Not often that I play a gamer for five hours, stopping to have dinner, and playing it for another few hours.

It's a fun game, just really annoying when you've got a lot of progress done and then BAM, all of a sudden the mission you thought was a simple "find and bring back the survivor" mission is actually a "fight to the death against a psychopath" mission and you die because of not being prepared... Also, it's not really a game I enjoy playing for lengths at a time, I find it funnier if I play it in small chunks at a time.

But I guess it's different for everyone, as everyone is bound to have their own opinion.

I really dont think the game is "over-hyped" at all. I think it's been marketed as exactly what it is. Dead Rising..make stuff.. use stuff to smash zombies. I think the only way someone could see this game as "Hyped" is if they've never played the first one and they think anything with zombies is the epicness. =/

It's a marmite game, much like most of capcom games. Some people absolutely love it and can play it forever, and others despise it. If you didn't like the original I wouldn't touch this with a 20ft barge pole.

I don't recall it receiving too much hype, but, for me at least, it delivered what I expected.

I'm... with you. It had a good ad campaign, I think... But I don't think it's really hyped up much.

Basically, if you didn't like the first, you probably won't like the second. Makes sense, really.

Admittedly I have never played the first one. But I went to the Mana Bar and played this at the launch party and I was bored as hell within about 5 mins of picking up the controller. Let me sum up the experience for you

Pick up item 1 .... whack a zombie ...
Pick up item 2 .... whack a zombie ...
Combine item 1 and item 2 ... whack a zombie ....
Throw controller down in disgust.
Drink a few Mana Potions (the cocktail, not an in-game thing. Mind you, I did wonder about the 500 gallons of juice the character in DR2 was swilling. I suspect it he's an alcoholic and it was liberally 'improved' with vodka...)
Feel a little better about the whole situation
Repeat previous steps

It's the most divisive game since COD by the looks of the forums over the last few weeks.

I won't be getting it, timers and unfair boss fights don't agree with me.

If this was a poll, I would vote yes and move on. The concept is rediculous, and even more so since the game seems to want you to take it serious. The idea of the game being timed is cool, but it doesn't even get that right IMO.

Maybe people raving about it like it in an "Evil Dead" way. It is so rediculous it is enjoyable. But even though I like Evil Dead, it is something I have to be in the mood for.

Not really, I'm pretty sure the only people who got it were people who liked the first one and people who heard of it through word of mouth.

It is definitly alot better than the first, it is certainly not for everyone, but I'm having a lot of fun with it.

Not really too hyped, but it's good mindless fun to waste time with. Nothing beats DDT-ing a zombie into pavement. But, yeah, all the game really is, at it's heart, a mindless zombie killing game. Set expectations accordingly. It's funner to watch than COD, at least.

I love it. But I'm an admitted fanboy. Like I've said before, its a shame how little they actually innovated. I do love hanging out in vegas though.

I never thought it was that hyped

You should do what I did and download the trial version of Case Zero to see whether the sequel has improved enough over the first Dead Rising to warrant buying.

Personally, I found Case Zero to be more of the same old shit, so much so that I turned it off after a while (before I even got killed) and I didn't even feel it was enough of an improvement to spend a paltry 400 MS points on unlocking that game, let alone £30 to purchase Dead Rising 2.

There is alot of hype around it if you are curious about the title. There are ads all over and any investigation on the game shows high review scores. Game Informer lost a little credability to me this month by giving it a 9.

Such a great movie, I take it you enjoyed Drag Me to Hell as well?

OT: I'm just as confused as you are OP, as I can't really decide if I want to spend $60 on what is more or less slight improvements to the last game.

Though I did enjoy the "survive-for-as-long-as-you-can" mode in the first Dead Rising. Is that Unlimited Mode in the sequel too?
