The two games are completely different, and in separate genres. Why would you even want to 'replace' Resident Evil with Dead Rising? Both are equally great, and Dead Rising has only one release.

Bit too optimistic I would think.

Or a bit of business-to-consumer psychology.

After playing Dead Rising 2: Case Zero, I put in my preorder for Dead Rising 2. At Gamestop, so I could get a ninja suit. I probably would have bought it anyway, at some point, but the XBLA intro is just fantastic.
Exact same thing happened here.
(except its at EB cause we don't have gamestop here.)

Its only a tiny segement of the game and it is genuinely good fun.

But after playing it, it raises the question "how did it make it to this country without being banned?!" with both knife attacks being brutal and sometimes cringe worthy (It gets up close and personal with the psycho music in the background) and the various methods to execute painful death really highlight the flaws in our rating system at its worst. (Australia as you guessed by now.)

Well, it seems Resident Evil is going back to Square One with "6" anyways.

If nothing else, Dead Rising, both the first and second, can consider themselves better zombie games than the last two RE games. RE2 is still the reigning zombie champ though. And nothing will ever change my mind.

As a man who has dropped his money on the High Stakes edition of Deadrising, it is safe to say that I love the hell out of the game. I have acquired enough points (unfortunately offline) to become 45th in North America. And Case Zero was absolutely fantastic, though it was odd running so slow.

DR2 already beats Resident Evil. Why? I can move while I am and shoot my gun now. (Was not present in DR1 though)

I loved Dead Rising, but the demo to Case Zero is a total let down for me. It feels like a cheap knock-off of DR. DR had incredible sounds & animations for the weapons & attacks. It was very visceral. The sounds & attacks in Case Zero are just so weak & bland. Even an exploding propane tank feels meh. DR also had a great sense of humor. I saw very little humor in the CZ demo. If the only thing they did was offer an optional patch that replaced CZ's sounds with the original DR sounds, this game would be at least 4 times better. Reducing the silly amount of blood splatter would be nice too. I'm fighting zombies, not balloons filled with blood.

I hope this game succeeds because I'd love for them to make a sequel. I just hope the sequel is more like the original.
