Meh. I'm still witholding judgement until I play a demo. The first game got really repetitive after the first few hours.awesomeClaw said:http://www.capcom-europe.com/blog/2010/08/dead-rising-2-release-date-brought-forward-o/

Would a Demo really help with knowing of its repetitive nature?SonicWaffle said:Meh. I'm still witholding judgement until I play a demo. I think so. The major problem with the first one was the repetitive nature of the controls rather than the gameplay; smashing up endless zombies was fun, but spending hours hitting the same attack button over and over and over was what put me off. I'll check out the demo and see whether the control scheme has been fiddled with - my biggest hope is that guns will have been fixed. It's a pretty poor state for a game to be in when a stuffed animal makes a more effective weapon against a zombie horde than an uzi.dragon_of_red said:Would a Demo really help with knowing of its repetitive nature?
The first few hours were the ONLY hours, the game was only 7 hours long (excluding the fucking ridicuolous infinte mode). I still like it though. I hope this one is longer.SonicWaffle said:Meh. I think your out of luck. The gunplay looks similar, with a limited mag only, and the combat looks the same too. The only major difference is the unique weaponry you can make, things like a wheelchair with three LMGs attached and bow and arrow with TNT attached. I'm not sure that'll be enough to prevent the combat from going stale, but it's personal opinion at the end of the day.SonicWaffle said:I think so. Well, the weapons in the first were what kept me playing as long as I did. Bashing or chopping away gets boring fast, but stuff like the umbrella or the bike would make me laugh and keep me going a little longer. Some of the stuff I've seen on the adverts - Darth Maul-style double ended chainsaw for example - look chuckleworthy, but if there isn't enough variety with the weapons then the combat gets boring even faster.Hybridwolf said:I think your out of luck. Not true, it's made by blue castle, an American company, and is being published by Capcom.Dragonforce525 said:Well seeing as it's made by capcom I'm pretty sure the actual game will be shit.
The weapon list for number 2 is much larger then the original, and there is much more varity in terms of guns. Then there is the combo list which is fairly large, and honestly, looks amazing. It is true though, a kitchen knife is all fun and games, but at the end of the day, it isn't very spectatular. But then you see something like this:SonicWaffle said:What I'd like to see is more weapons that can be improved in certains ways or areas. In the first game the frying pan was just a dull blunt weapon, until you discovered that you could heat it on a hob and melt zombie faces. That made it hilarious. It'd help to keep people exploring, and multi-functional weapons are more interesting that something that just hits or cuts.
They dont have a demo per say, they have a Pre stroy DLC free for 360. Just heard about "case zero" and it looks to be the perfect way to check about its qualtiy.SonicWaffle said:Meh. While that does look kinda cool, it isn't exactly what I meant. I was talking more about ways you could use your surroundings to improve weapons. Like, say, you found a crashed car leaking fuel in a car park. You dip your machete into it, light it up, and FWOOSH! Time for flaming zombie kebabs. That sort of thing; more interaction with the environmental factors.Hybridwolf said:-SNIP-
I think they have people camped outside your house, I just read that you can get a flaming boardsword on the wiki?!?! Are you sure your not working for them in secret?SonicWaffle said:While that does look kinda cool, it isn't exactly what I meant.
