I'm going to hazard a guess that we're going to see a "patch" from EA in the near future that will either re-lock/eliminate the additional content, lock people who have unlocked the on-disk content out of online play, or simply try to lock them out of the game for hacking it altogether.

And then the feces is really going to hit the oscillator.

Seriously, EA, what the hell? Are you just getting into a hissy fit because people were angry about their games not unlocking on time?

I'm not sure who should be more upset, PC owners who were told they were going to be left out on DLC content, or Console owners who found out not only is their paid "exclusive" DLC content is not exclusive, but free to PC owners!

This is a major part of why I, as a person who plays games not only on consoles and handhelds but also on his PC, hate you EA. Stop screwing over PC players with increasingly awful DRM. Stop with this nonsense of "there is no DLC" when you know damn well PC players can look in the files very easily and find things. And by the way, stop completely destroying franchises (you still owe Command and Conquer fans a massive apology).

And still no Patch for the PC to fix the not appearing elite suits after about almost 2 weeks.
EA screw you too

I suppose EA is actually telling the truth in a twisted roundabout way. There is "no DLC" for the PC version because it's included in the freaking game already. I take my hat off to the person who released that savefile for providing us with the content that we paid for already.

Oh woah. Why is this article written in this ridiculous "we're the deep digging investigators *tough voice*" style?

Anyways, I think they just didn't remove it from the disc duo to laziness and in fact really never intended to release it as DLC. It's just stupid on every level but yeah...

Left in because it was too much effort to remove.

Also too much effort to sort out selling it.

Odd, why make an exclusive DLC work for another system.
Seems like they may of had a secret announcement in the works.

Not that it affects me, I don't play Dead Space 2.
HUE HUE HUE FIRST
I assume the suits were already part of the game but removed from the story so that they could be sold as Dlc.
Removing lines of code from a game is a risky buisnes, as it often leads to unexcpected bugs.
It wasn't developed after the game was already pressed obviously so its likly you were intended to find them in the game, but they were later removed to make extra money with dlc.
Great Article btw Andy

Well duh, of course it's not a DLC, are you all blind? It's AIC! (Already Installed Content) They are basically making people pay for 1's and 0's they already have.

Satire aside... this might be even more proof that the PC version is just a port ooooooooor there's been a serious fudgeup in the administrative parts of the company.

Maybe they were planning a "Game of the Year" edition with the game plus all DLC, which would also be released on PC?

The most elegant way out of this by EA would be to "play Valve", apologize and release a free patch that unlocks the armor + weapons "console exclusive" DLC.

But knowing EA as I do, my expectations are of them patching the already coded-in DLC OUT of the game, thus making the savefile/fix useless.

Yeah, thats how badly I think of you now, EA. You would spent resources to take things away from the PC crowd, instead of doing the right thing (as I see it). For shame, EA. For shame.

Damn I feel for- Hold on. This is just the craptacular armor DLC's. Meh. There is alot worse with dead space 2 before you start getting in a tizz over armor DLCs which do little and are cheap method of making money for EA. I suspect that even that even if they made the DLC work for PC it would still cost a similar amount.

last i checked DLC stood for DownLoadable Content...
as its already in the game files, there's no download...
it's just locked content, locked for no good reason with no plans for unlocking it...
why would you make something, hide it and have no plans to ever show it? it just seems backwards.

So EA don't want to make more money? Even if they suprise everyone by releasing some brand new DLC packs for the PC that definitely aren't there already, most people who would want the content will probably have already used the savefile to get it for free.

It just goes to show that publishers are still finding ways to milk gamers out of money, why sell someone a game when you can sell it to them twice? Although maybe they have given up on project ten dollar and just haven't told themselves?

I have the PC version, and Downloaded the savegame file, and it works great. If EA offered the DLC, I would NOT do this to unlock them, however, they left the files in the game, and refused to give us the option to buy them. Even if they released them, and they were heavily pirated, one sale would lot them more money than they're getting now. I would bu Severed if it were released for PC, but I guess EA (Visceral?) didn't learn from Bioware, did they? Guess they don't want more of my money, it's a shame.
why doesn't more companies use the bioware way? i.e.

maybe bioware copyrighted that method of purchase. The copyright wars between companies are a nasty business that only brings suffering to the customer and less money for all.

If it's all already in the game, there must be a way to unlock it. I checked the Steam forums and the save file the guy linked is no longer there.

If EA really is doing this because of pirating, they're not helping themselves by being pricks about it. If anything all this is making people reconsider their stance on pirating.
I looked through a bunch of posts and found it. Now I just need to get Dead Space 2.
