NO! Not the return of Hardcore mode! I had a hard enough time with Dead Space 2's Hardcore mode. Now I only get one life? Ugh. How do lives even work in Dead Space? Or does he mean saves?

Look, the only Dead Space stories I'm interested in are "What happened to the main character from Extraction?" and "What happened to the pregnant girl at the end of Severed?" Funny how both those stories are related to Extraction, huh? If the DLC isn't involved in at least one of those two stories, then it's going to have to try REALLY hard to get me to buy it. As for the suits and other perks, no thanks. Don't care about that stuff.

So this game now has a $60 price tag, day one DLC, more DLC out a couple of weeks after release and micro transactions? Turning out to be quite expensive this.

On the plus side the extra game modes seem to keep alive the survival horror aspects of the series from the sound of it.
No. Harder modes will simply make it into a more difficult shooter. But it's still not gonna make it scary. No if you want scary, you'll have to buy the disturbing DLC.

EA has gone full evil on this one.

"But we also continue to make kick-ass content, so DS3 can be as awesome as it can be on launch day! You've probably seen some of the rad suits we've been making. Like the N7 suit [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/121623-EA-Brings-Free-Mass-Effect-Armor-to-Dead-Space-3]: if you've played Mass Effect 3, this cool armor will automatically unlock for both Isaac and Carver"
Who is this man talking to? 12 year olds?
Is there anyone here who cares about those fucking suits that are either useless clutter or game breaking?

I liked dead space 1 and 2.
I guess you can call me their target audience then but the more I hear about the monstrosity they turn dead space 3 into, the more appalled I become.
It's like they're having a contest of shoving as many things wrong with the games industry into this game as possible.

I like their idea w/ the hardcore mode. Gives the game a little bit of suspense, which this game looked like it needed. While I don't really like the idea of day 1 DLC, if it's just new armors then I could not possibly care any less. I really don't understand why people are getting so pissed. It's just a game and in the end you don't have to buy the DLC nor the game. Bitching on some internet forum isn't going to change anything. Not buying it will.

The creators of Extraction confirmed that the main character from Extraction succumbed to his wounds in the shuttle and turned into the Necromorph you see Lexine kill in the ending. He's dead. Gabe and her hooked up shortly thereafter.

Lexine's fate is unknown, but he is definitely alive after the events of Severed... and being monitored. I wouldn't be surprised if some DLC or something fleshes that out.

Dammit. Whoever thought that news release would ender the game to the PC crowd should do something more suited to their talents, like garbage disposal.
This is not a good thing for a dev to be saying. When he says "It will be no different." He means PC will be dealing with the same low res textures made for 4+ year old hardware, capped FPS, lack of customisable controls etc.

There was another interview with this guy where his attitude to PC is the complete opposite of what is expressed in that interview so end of the day, just have to wait and see but do remember there is no dead space 3 PC demo.

(And i now realise i misred. Carry on.)

Is this particular horrifying new content like most of the other content they released for DS2? By that, I mean of course unavailable to PC gamers anyways- even if it is day one DLC.

Here's to hoping that they can top the exploding baby grenades and zombie children.

4 years? Try 8 years since the oldest console (Xbox 360) was released.

At this rate, EA will be getting the equivalent of shipping 5 million copies of this game with all the DLC

I won't judge anything until it's out, but color me suspicious as of now
And the people who actually made the game won't be seeing any reward for it unless it gets an 8/10 or better from Metacritic.
Where did you hear that?

Then it was not a good one.
And of course you just had to respond before I could edit in my explanation.
FUCK.
I was aware of the jokes source, and i still think it doesnt make for good joking material.
Dude, stop being a jerk. I get that some of us gamers are misanthropes that lack a sense of humour, but seriously what's he point in starting something like that up? If someone tells a joke that falls flat you don't harangue them for it, that's basic social skills

Disturbing content eh, that's okay, if I get anywhere close to being scared I'll just buy the best gun currently available and some health so I'll feel more secure.

Seriously how -IS- this survival horror anymore if you take away the survival aspect and with it the horror if you no longer have to fear dying?

It's not so much how quickly you die, it's how close you are to dying. If Dead Space, if played on the harder difficulties, can be pretty tense, since you'll be blowing through health packs like nobodies business. And in my experience, buying the best gun is unnecessary, since it's balanced in such a way that ANY gun can become the best if you upgrade it. Hell, you could finish the game using nothing but the plasma cutter.

Ah, thank you. I had heard the theory that the main character was indeed the Necromorph at the end, but I had never heard that the creators officially confirm it. Kind of lame, but okay. Still, you'd think that would have been something at least mentioned in Severed. "Such a pity what happened to...whats-his-name."
Guess all that's left is to wrap up Lexine's story then, which I really hope they do. That's DLC that I would buy.

I remember Steve Papoutsis when he was in No Use For A Name. Weird seeing him spruking video games. I thought Dead Space was pretty fucked up to begin with, so it will be interesting to see where they are going with this. Hopefully the "disturbing" part isn't the price.
