Dead Space Ending question *SPOILERS inside*

Hey, I just beat Dead Space today and it was a great game. I have a question for people who have also completed the game. In the Final cinimatic waht does the main character see that causes all that commotion because all I saw was a white light and heard lots of loud noises; so can anyone tell me what I was supposed to see and possibly show me what I was supposed to see?

The very last cutscene? You board your ship, and head off into space. After taking off his helmet, he relaxes for a moment. Suddenly he looks up, as if he's heard something. He then turns around, and it attacked by his dead girlfriend/wife who has been turned into a crazy zombie person.

I'm pretty sure he was just hallucinating, his girlfriend was long dead by then and she didn't look like a necromorph at all. I think they were trying to say that he's still a little nuts even after defeating the necromorphs and escaping.

I just assumed it was the obelisk ensuring there were no survivors/witnesses.

There weren't many "jump out" scary moments in that game. It was more of the "mess with your head" kind of scary.

And I just finished that game like two weeks ago. And yes, the only part that REALLY frightened me was the very end. Like literally out of the chair "AAGH FUCK" frightening.

Also, I am proud of one thing.

That is some special combination of fucked up and awesome.

My two cents,I think all of the Nicole visions were the product of the monolith. So, it was probably actually Issac who hacked open the door to, wherever (the defend Nicole bit). Not very profound, I know, but I think it's the intended read of events.

I'm pretty sure the final scare was just a random necromorph though, not someone specific. How would Nicole have gotten to the planet? If it's anyone we know it's probably Dr. Kyle. Kendra may have offed him and he was infected while she went to get the monolith.

I don't think it was Nicole on the ship. Been awhile since I played, though my memory says she blew her brains out, and the person on the ship had a full head, plus I seem to think she didn't look like Nicole. Forgive the bad memory if I'm wrong, though. I'ma gonna look up pictures and info.

EDIT: Just checked a vid on the ending. Yeah, bad memory there, did look like her. And I guess the suicide was lethal injection. Whoops.

Well I guess it fits with the story given that throughout the whole game Isaac is plagued by images of her and glimpses that all come across as very haunting an surreal. So naturally the idea that she had been dead the whole time was present in the story and revealed at the end.
I guess the finale was something they realised they could do to wrap up the story nicely but leave an element of mystery, but whether or not she was real or an illusion is left to our own interpretations I guess.

yeah true, but they did try through out the game though, but that was the only one I think worked.

The monsters from Dead Space are dead humans manipulated by an alien virus or something. The point is, they are dead. So Nicole's corpse being a monster is very likely.

I doubt it's Nicole in reality. After seeing all the fucked up shit that went down on the Ishimura, I'd expect anyone to lose some part of their mind; it's probably a hallucination.
