For a while now I have been following the development of Dead Space and I must say this is my most anticipated game for the year. Like the aniamted comics they have been putting out on Live I have been following them since the first one and I am hooked. I also plan to get the DVD when it comes out. I also think that the way you have to dismember your enemies in order to defeat them is something I haven't seen before. (At least nothing comes to mind)If you haven't been paying attention to this game I would suggest you do. So now I just wonder if anyone else has been following this. Also list pro's/con's about the game in your opinion.

I am excited for this game. It's in space, always an awesome thing. I am a fan of sci fi horror, so this is right up my alley.

Pros:

Set in space.
Cool character designs.

Cons:

Story. I fear it might try too hard. But it looks so pretty!

pros: interesting setting, fresh combat system, and grotesque monsters

cons: the weapons were implemented incorrectly(cutting tools generally use a constant stream of matter to cut through an object an closer ranges, not firing a Resident evil movie style cutting security grid thin and carving up ones foe at 100-yards)

Pros:
Atmosphere
Plot
Graphics
Immersion
Weapons (the lack thereof)
Finally a horror game that won't descend into mindless shooting

Cons:
Difficulty
Control System
Cabin Fever

According to a pre-E3 development interview your character is the slowest thing on the ship but has bumped reaction times (so you can't run away but you have a better chance in combat)
but given the nature of the weapons you have to be quick and accurate, or you're dead, which sounds like something that would make me break my controller in frustration.

Also, while the atmosphere will be spot on, it takes a certain type to really enjoy these survival horrors which is a shame but it's the reason they become niche hits rather than mainstream classics.

But it's definitely on the "To Buy" list.

You know, the more I read this thread, the more excited I get for this game. And that's good. I have yet to make the jump to next-gen systems, however, but games like this totally make me want to shell out the big bucks for a PS3.

If you have an 360 and have a LIVE account I would suggest watching the animated comics that yo can download. I honestly don't think they can screw the story up because of how much time they put into these comics alone. Not to mention the DVD that will be made as well.

I didn't buy 'Alone in the Dark', so could someone enlighten me on how it went wrong?
Highly limited inventory coupled with rubbish control for picking things up.

It doesn't pause when you go into your inventory which usually wouldn't be a big deal except for the fact that you are required to constantly go into your inventory to mix and match.

The most powerful enemies (besides the only boss) all have specific weak spots that require you to burn them which again wouldn't be a problem if there was any way to dodge thier attacks.

The only effective weapon is a spray can and lighter combo WTF????
