Back by popular demand, it's the next round of Deadliest Video Game Warrior! After the last round (which mostly went unnoticed, as I moved it to the RP forum
) I thought that this time I'd do something a little bit different...and a lot more gory. This time around, it won't be a contest based on who could kill whom; instead the battle will be more of a 'technical merit' competition...involving blood! Which of these two mighty warriors is the maestro of mutilation? The Guru of gore? The Lord of....killing people in awesomely disgusting fashion? Without further delay, let's look at the competitors: Jack Cayman, from MadWorld and Marcus Fenix, of Gears of War fame.
The competition will focus on three methods of killing for each character. At the end, the one who kills the most (in the most brutal fashion) wins the competition.
TALE OF THE TAPE
Marcus Fenix
Years of Experience: A relative newcomer to the industry, Marcus has been on the video game scene for around 3 years. In game terms, he has served for over 14 years.
Height: The immense Fenix stands 6' 2", but it is unknown if this is his natural height, or his height after being enhanced by his armor.
Skills and Training: Fenix's training began at an early age, although the bulk of it was intended to help him "mix with people". He joined the COG forces at age 17, and has taken part in several major conflicts. His skills include firearms and melee training, squad command, and battlefield tactics. Throughout his years he has learned many skills impromptly, such as using Locust weapons, and piloting a Brumak.
Victories: Fenix has been the source of several major victories for the COG, alongside Delta squad. Whether it was the defeat of General RAAM and the decimation caused by the light-mass bomb, the defeat of the Riftworm sinking human cities, or the flooding of the Locust tunnels by sinking Jacinto, Marcus has accomplished much (through the application of brutal force!)
Nemesis: Marcus has had to overcome several tough opponents during his tours of duty, but none greater than the lieutenants of the Locust hordes. Whether it was the Krill-enshrouded General RAAM, the Chainstaff-armed Skorge, or the Queen of the Horde Myrrah.
Jack Cayman
Years of Experience: Jack debuted in MadWorld a mere 4 months ago, giving up a lot of experience up to Marcus. In game terms, Jack has served for several years, being a former marine and a three-time DeathWatch champion.
Height:Jack's height is unknown, but he arguably stands around the same height as Fenix.
Skills and Training: Jack's past, for the most part, is a mystery, though it is known that he has served in the marines and is a former three-time Death Watch champion. He undergoes constant training during the course of the competition, though most of that "training" is how to kill someone in increasingly nasty fashion.
Victories: Again, not much is known about Jack's past, but he has won the Death Watch tournament 4 times now.
Nemesis: Jack has too little time in his life for a specific nemesis, but his greatest competition was against the final Death Watch Competitor, the Black Baron.
METHOD 1
Marcus Fenix: Lancer Chainsaw Bayonet
The mainstay of the COG, the Lancer rifle's chainsaw bayonet makes the weapon doubly effective. When out of ammo, or in tight confines, the Lancer is capable of incredible destruction. If the Lancer get's its teeth into you...it's game over.
Jack Cayman: Chainsaw Robotic Arm
Chainsaws seem to be the theme of the day. Jack's arm, and its built-in chainsaw, have helped him carve his way into Death Watch fame. Whether it is a quick slash or a concentrated plunge into a victim's spine, the chainsaw causes devastation in its wake.
Advantage: The Lancer
As deadly as Jack's chainsaw arm is, it is limited solely by it's range. The Lancer functions as both a gun and chainsaw, meaning that it can kill at a range, or in close. Solely on that merit, Marcus takes the first round.
METHOD 2
Marcus Fenix: Curb Stomp
As brutal as it is simple, Fenix's Curb Stomp comes from necessity. If an enemy shows a moment of weakness, Marcus ensures that they always end up on the wrong foot (yes I know, its also terrible pun day). A gritty streetfighting move, it is nonetheless ruthless.
Jack Cayman: BloodBath Challenges
As part of the Death Watch tournament, Jack takes part in the BloodBath Challenges. These ultra-violent sports feature hapless victims, ridiculous amounts of violence, and macabre twists on everyday sports and games. They are lots of fun though.
Advantage: BloodBath Challenges
While the Curb stomp is 100% effective, it is really only an attack of opportunity. Also, it leaves you vulnerable. The BloodBath Challenges give you access to a new way of mowing down legions of enemies.
METHOD 3
Marcus Fenix: Weapon Executions
In the middle of the battlefield, the deadliest fighter is one that can use anything in his arsenal to defeat his opponents. No one is more capable of this than Marcus. Besides being able to use Locust weaponry, he is also able to improvise them into melee attacks. Whether its playing Sniper golf, or decapitating someone with a torque bow, Marcus is the master of improvisation.
Jack Cayman: Finishing moves
The top competitors of Death Watch have their own fighting styles, which Jack is able to turn to his advantage. Von Twirlenkiller knows what it's like to have his arms ripped off and be chopped up by his own turbines. The Shamans learned the meaning of roadkill. And Jack can even use the many spiky items in his surroundings to impale, slice, and otherwise eviscerate the many peons walking around Varrigan City. (Yes, I have many synonyms for killing
)
Advantage: Even
Both of their finishing moves are utterly lethal, and incredibly gruesome, and hillarious all at once. It's too hard to pick a clear winner here.
This one was incredibly close to call; both men are brutal combatants. But in the end...

Jack Cayman. The veteran of Death Watch has slaughtered his way into history, and his almost-artistic mastery of murder has helped him edge past Marcus. I first thought Marcus would win, thanks to his greater array of weaponry (including something with range) and his greater catalogue of experience. But Jack has talents that Marcus doesn't; he's more used to killing several enemies at once, and he's forced to put on a spectacle while doing so (to keep up ratings). Also, Marcus' guns take several shots to drop an enemy at range. With the loss of his advantage at range, and with Jack's arguably better close-quarters killing ability, the man with a chainsaw hand takes it.
WINNER!
