Just saw it I liked it for the most part but the romantic subplot dragged the movie down for me. Reynolds did nail the part he was Deadpool and I am glad they went R rated. The only other let down was the Deadpool didn't have much of a fight scene with Gina. Colossus is too much of a boy scout to make the fight entertaining and it felt kinda weak. DP quiping about her while fighting her would have made a great fight.

Edit:Did anyone get the trailer for the film that looked like a FPS? That could either be a great vg-ish film or horrible.
That movie look monumentally awful. It looks terrible to watch, terrible to direct, and is only going to make parents get pissed about video games again. I dare say it appears to have no redeeming qualities at all.

OT: 8/10. Hilarious at parts. Solid action scenes. Not perfect, but tied for the best Fox/Marvel film (First Class).

Saw it and was laughing my ass off the entire time. It's also amazing how this movie makes a far better on-screen couple than most straight-laced superhero films. With how amazingly well it's doing at the box office I hope this makes studios branch out with comic book adaptations and do more comedic or mature-slanted works. Also, we need more Negasonic and Ed Skrein makes a surprisingly convincing villain.

Seen it. Here's my 19-word review: "Embraces its source material, doesn't try to be anything more than what it is, and is better for that."

Oh one more thing, was part of the film set in China (the part when he was going to meet his girlfriend again but the strangers seeing his face is disgust put him off)? I still don't see why it was banned in China.
That would be the Chinatown in one of several possible cities (I don't think they ever specify which city the bulk of the movie takes place in), and the movie was filmed in Vancouver and Victoria, Canada.

Hell, even the opening credits are funny.
The opening credits perfectly encompasses the tone of the film, including "the real heroes here."

From the review, and from my own knowledge of Deadpool, this is not a film you watch with any of your relatives. Maybe at most your siblings and cousins. But no one else.
Actually, if your significant other enjoys action movies, I think it's a great date movie. Despite the relationship between Wilson and Vanessa being mostly illustrated through a few brief scenes and a montage, it comes off as a real relationship rather than as a forced one.

In my opinion 60/100 I might be very critical but I'm comparing it with a ton of movies. The movie was mostly good it captured the character of Deadpool but it doesn't does him justice as I wanted.

Too much drama for a Deadpool movie, I expected more comedy and more action instead of the "sad" generic backstory.

AGAIN: This is my opinion.

I've been... holding off on this movie. At the least I'm very cautious about going to see it. Maybe some people here can help me out with my quandry.

See, the kind of Deadpool I like is the tragic, insane anti-hero. The one who tries to be a good person but just monumentally fucks up. The one who cracks jokes simply to keep him going. The one that is commonly done now is the whacky 'lolsorandum I can make pop culture references' then he goes and stabs some skateboarders.

So I ask: Is this Deadpool quirky lolrandom or is he more of a tragic character?

Maybe I'm just a dull killjoy.

Eh... I would be lying if I said that it was a complete balance of both... At least the movie is self-aware enough to not have the "lolsorandom" moments overshadow the fact that Deadpool's getting revenge on the dude that may nor may not fix his face on top of taking his female copycat, personality-wise, of a lover and, for the most part, he's making sure that nothing and no one gets in his way on getting that particular satisfaction... all while the movie weaves in the fact that Wade's always been the anti-hero doing the "right thing" for the right price...

Overall, he still does the whole "making references while killing" shtick, but the movie doesn't just do that and calls itself a comedy... Although, given this particular user's opinion...

I'd say you'll find [some] enjoyment in this movie regardless of the "lolsorandom" moments...

Now I see the multiple references holy moly in this movie. The movie is very complete but after the credits it says whats up... The budget.

The prostitute Vanessa is a mutant woman called "copy-cat". And the soldier/merc he finds at the final fight scene "Bob" is supposedly his best friend and sidekick "Hydra Agent Bob" some loser random merc #13.

The thing is the movie had all the essential characters but couldn't use their source material/powers, etc. Because of the budget.

I'm both surprised and not surprised at the amount of children [with their parent(s)] that were also watching this movie along with me, my friend, and a bunch of happy couples... and, I think, everyone had that one standout quote that made them laugh the loudest...

Other than that, this was a very quotable movie... and I fucking love it even more for making me feel that way...
I lost it when he broke both of his wrists and said "all the dinosaurs feared the t-rex." This movie was way better than I had expected. Sure, it has its issues, but I think it nails everything important. Even the opening credits was great! How often do you actually enjoy sitting through opening credits?

I hated it! I was dragged to the theaters by my cousin, and knew nothing about the movie or Deadpool other than he was a guy with a mask that looked like he has underpants on his head, was crazy or something, and some people said the movie was good. The film started off promising with the amusing stereotype credits and then plummeted the second Deadpool opened his stupid mouth. His voice was incredibly grating, and every line he had was just lolrandumb. Ugh. It was probably the least funny movie I've seen... probably since the last time my cousin dragged me to a comedy. There was pretty much nothing to like about the film, it was vulgar trash and nothing more. The effects were okay, I guess, same as every other blockbuster movie. Whoopdee doo!

The granny he lives with and the guy at the bar are also direct references.
They made a new origin for his name based on the old origin which is also nice (it's not exactly the same but that is due to other plot circumstances).

your opinion is influenced by not being familiar with Deadpools original story whilst mine is influenced by actually being familiar with it.

This means you might have missed several nuances and were expecting the wrong "Deadpool" to show up, that's why Reynolds tells you this is not a kids movie, because it's not the childrens version of Deadpool but the more mature older version, which is fine but due to tropes being overplayed everywhere you won't experience Deadpool the same and you will not want to look beyond it so much to see how it alters those things and goes against it in satirical form at times.

After actually having watched the movie I say they should just scrap you of your post as a reviewer at the Escapist.

Your review is shallow, shallower than the plot of Deadpool you fail to see the grittier side of Deadpool, the callbacks to old writers and the older character and the fact that whilst not being serious he actually takes himself serious at the same time.

I guess you are one of those people that caused Deadpool to develop into the moron he is in the comics these days because you simply were too dumb to understand what was really going on.
Regardless of the rest of the content of your post, I can't figure on any reasonable excuse by which you'd think this was an acceptable way to address someone. You've been warned about this before, consequently I have imposed a ban.

Further actions of this nature will attract more severe penalties.
