Any games which sexualize anyone under the age of 18 (I'm looking at you JRPGs) are for seedy 45 year old men without testicles and half a brain.

Gameplay needs to take a backseat to story. Graphics need to take a backseat to gameplay.

Deal with it.

*PC > everything else
*The last Console game I enjoyed in the slightest was Donkey Kong Country Returns
*I think the game before that was Smash Bros Brawl
*The above games excludes Kingdom Hearts games
*Kingdom Hearts is one of the only few reasons I even OWN a console
*I love RPGs but can't stand Final Fantasy
*Out of the Final Fantasy games the only ones I liked were Tactics Advance and Tactics Advance 2
*I have literally DISABLED my caps lock key
*I can't stand the fact that every game now is either "casual" or "hardcore" because both of these demographics suck and the people who just want to play GAMES are being shafted
*I LIKE games that are excruciatingly difficult
*The best Zelda game is Wind Waker
*WoW is a great example of an OUTDATED MMORPG that has NOT aged well
*The next company to upmark a games cost by 50% when they release it in Australia are going to get a foot up the arse
*Australia NEEDS a fucking R18 rating, all the lack of an R rating is doing is forcing developers to try and slip R rated games past as M rated ones
*I still 'buy' pokemon games, but don't even tend to finish the story anymore
*I don't like Windows but have to use it if I want to be able to play what I feel like
*The day you hit 'maturity' is when the word loses meaning
*I think a lot of the add-on Sonic characters were a GOOD thing
*That said, almost every sonic game since the Megadrive/Genesis except the Adventure and Battle series has been crap
*Artistic games can still suck, I will not tolerate a shitty game getting a high rating "because it's art"
*Minecraft is epic, but is only as epic as far as you're willing to let it be, I can see why people don't like it and I too get bored of it every now and then
*Minecraft is scarier then 'The Grudge' 'Amnesia' 'Fatal Frame' and the 'Silent Hill' series combined
*Nintendo's "gimmick", the touchscreen system with two screens, is REVOLUTIONARY and is the only console that gets semi-frequent playtime around here
*I agree with almost everything the Extra Credits team has discussed so far
*All recent FPSs are FUCKING IDENTICAL!
*Black Ops is my most disliked CoD game because they nerfed my playstyle, one that wasn't 'overpowered' to begin with
*Bad voice acting can RUIN a game, either do it well, or leave it out
*GOOD graphics are vital, REALISTIC graphics or DETAILED graphics are worthless
*I don't get the appeal behind Avatar, nothing about it seems any less bland then every other movie
*If it has ANY form of DRM, I pirate it without even THINKING about getting a legit version
*I like to emphasize words by CAPITALIZING them
*Launch-day DLC is bullshit and could have EASILY been incorporated into the game in most cases
*Sony has pulled enough stupid shit to make me begin to dislike them on principal, but I will still concede that as far as consoles go, the PS2 pretty much wins
*I disagree with roughly HALF of what other people have said in this thread so far and thusly will NOT 'deal with it'
*Thanks to a huge amount of AFKs this post has taken me about an hour to write
*A vast majority of the above is personal opinion, some is fact
*People are GOING to disagree with me on most of these points and thats IF they're still reading

Deal with it, or not, I don't particularly care anymore

Deus Ex sucks compared to modern games. So does Morrowind.

Every MMORPG I have ever played has had absolutely shitty gameplay, and I've tried plenty of the big name ones. As well as this, dice-roll based gameplay and DnD style in general is an unimmersive and boring system, as well as dated. JRPGs are just ridiculous and laughable.

Survival Horror Games are bullshit. They are just normal horror games where they make the controls a pile of crap and tack on an unintuitive inventory system, to make it artificially "challenging" and "suspenseful".

The only multiplayer even remotely entertaining to me is multiplayer where you level up and unlock new things as you go. Because of this, combined with my penchant for FPS gameplay, the recent Call of Duty games are my favorite (thats right, favorite) multiplayer games. I still got bored of them once I had unlocked everything though.

I am a PC gamer with hardware that is considered low-end for gaming, that i've had for 2 years, but I have absolutely no problem playing any modern games on mostly high settings and I have no interest in wasting my money on upgrading. I very rarely play strategy games, and I use a gamepad for the majority of games I play. I think Mods very rarely improve a game. Usually they are half-arsed, dont fit with the rest of the game world, and make the game buggier.

These are just my personal thoughts, deal with them. :)

OK, after a day, I can now bring myself to say things more serious and opinionated than "I am YETPACK!"

- This thread is really silly
- Like, really, properly silly
- People's posts in this thread are often quite enlightening about them
- I really need to get Garrys Mod, because it is HILARIOUS
- Halo's singleplayer has always and will always be better than Half-Life 2's (assuming 343 industries don't ruin it)
- FPS games are equally good on PC and console, anybody having serious problems aiming with the thumbstick has probably been playing on PC for so long they've lost the ability to adapt, which is unfortunate
- Half-Life 2 is certainly overrated, but since it cost me a grand total of £6 on Steam I don't really care
- Bagel Pizza is the best lunch ever
- Some people's posts in this thread are ginormously huge
- Daleks are cool - anyone who disagrees with this will be exterminated
- Homeworld is the single best game of all time. This is a fact, honest! (ahem...)
- Half-Life 3 taking longer than 1.5 years to come out does NOT make it the new DNF. How long was it between HL1 and HL2 again?

This one's a biggie:

- My dream game is an open-world sandbox FPS set in a gigantic area with a few different mini-biomes. In this area, 5 factions are waging all out war: the Geth (of Mass Effect); the Empire (of Star Wars); the Imperial Guard (of 40k); the Combine Overwatch (of Half-Life 2); and the Covenant (of Halo). They each have a sophisticated AI director that launches attacks, creates strategies and adapts on the fly to combat the other factions. The factions all have their own bases (preferably each in a different biome), which have portals of some kind to offworld bases of operations from which they send through troops (except the Empire, who have a spaceport leading to the orbiting Executor). Oh, and before I forget, extensive balancing will have been done to make sure none of the factions are overpowered, and it is an even fight between all of them. The area will also be populated by all the Xen "wildlife" from Half-Life 2 (including the Zombie types), as well as Sentinels from Halo - in fact, the entire area will be riddled with Forerunner constructions and edifices. You, as a nameless, faceless and voiceless hero, are the mother of all spanners-in-the-works, and your mission is to take out each of these factions by journeying to each offworld base in sequence and destroying it somehow in a level that is somewhat more linear than the rest of the game, but still allows you choices and isn't overrun with scripted sequences. You travel around the area in some sort of vehicle, to ensure you don't have to trek for ages to get anywhere. And one last thing: you have a radio-like contraption, with which you can listen in on the various factions' communications, which will add character to each of your foes (and key you in on any massive armies heading towards your position, so you can retreat to the top of a mountain or something and watch the huge battle unfold from a distance). Hmm, anything else... Ah yes, everything will be recorded so you can watch any battles between the factions up close afterwards. This game will never, ever, ever, ever be made, for various reasons, which makes me very sad.

EDIT: Deal with it. How could I forget that?

I think the Wii is better than the PS3 or Xbox 360.
I think gaming in HD is overrated.
I wish more games had young female(12 and below) protagonists because they are better all around and it allows me to connect more with the character.

Fucking deal with it. XD
hopefully you mean connect with as in relate to not the sick thought that just ran though my mind.

I hate Dragon Age Origins deal with it!
As in, I rarely in any way connect to a male protagonist. :/

Same shit, different game. Needs moar originality. :p
Have you played Reccetear? It may fall in line with certain interests...

Civilizations Revolutions was the only Clivilizations game I enjoyed (but I have not played Civilizations V yet)

Fallout NV was the worst Fallout to date.

Deal with it!

I dislike Halo games because I find the weapons and gameplay boring.

I love Black Ops more than any other Call of Duty game.

I bought a 1 year subscription for DC Universe Online for PS3.

I love the fact that Marvel vs Capcom 3 has fewer characters than Marvel vs Capcom 2.

I play DOA Xtreme 2 for the bikini clad DOA girls and nothing else.

Deal with it.

lol, an busted (kinda) by the one person in the whole of the escapist that actually knows me XD watch suited for success (ep 14) :3 she got a lot of points for that one

and a few more OT:
Demon's Souls will, with out acception wreck your shit, and i wouldn't have it any other way :D
i'm looking more forward to Dark Souls then most any big name AAA title coming out
DarkSiders is Zelda, only pissed off an with a more interesting/awesome lead character, and better combat
Dante's Inferno is a better God of War game, then God of War (2 and 3)
the best MMO's are Korean anymore
Shin Megami Tensei, is the JRPG done right
i find Extra Credits both entertaining and insightful, and tend to agree with them
Folklore was both awesome and overlooked
there are games from the SNES library that are still great, and still better then alot of the crap out now

and just for Aris :)

I agree but there's two parts to graphics; technical and art design. A game developer should never skimp on art design unless it's a part of the game (e.g make it look bad, weird or humourous).

Games should have more story (not necessarily via cutscenes but character developing, depth via game mechanics and interaction).

Music is a very underrated part of video games!

Dragon Age 2 will suck because Bioware sold out by dumbing down the game.

Super Metroid is one of the best games ever!!!!

MMOs are boring and tedious made for kids and troglodytes but with a tremendous potential. :p

Piracy is theft.

Putting a J or W in from of RPG doesn't make different genre, just different origins.

Anyone claiming a console game as "Best FPS ever" is disqualified from being a "gamer".

Nothing can be hugely popular AND good.

Deal with it.
