This thread isn't an attempt to troll or just gain attention I actually would like peoples suggestions.

All right so long story short: I have a brain tumour and this is the third time that it's come back. The previous two operations had removed them 'completely' however apparently a little bit has been left each time which has allowed it to regrow. It's benign so it's not that life threatening but it does F*** up my life pretty hardcore. I haven't been able to have a job for 3 years (However I have been doing voluntary work at a convention and am pretty high up in it so it's not because I'm not hireable) and when it comes back it can make me have seizures/require it getting taken out again. So whenever that happens it means I can't drive (which I love to do).

While I can go in and out of hospital in the space of about a week (seriously fast recovery time, my neurosurgeon is one of the best in Victoria, Australia and even he is surprised by everything about this. The first tumour was larger then a man's fist. Yes most of you won't believe it but I don't really stand anything to gain from tricking anyone here) however since I can't drive for months after the operation I'm practically stuck at home for that period of time.

If you were in my situation, what would you do? If you knew it was something that was going to constantly stick around in your life screwing everything up out of nowhere how would you deal with it? What games would you recommend I get to help keep me distracted from everything?

Well I'd ask the surgeons and see if they can get this bit that keeps regrowing. I know it's clearly a stubborn bastard but it's fucking your life up and that's your job and yours alone.

Though they may have tried that and I misunderstood. Or they left the tiny bit as not to fuck you up themselves.

It's not so much that it's their fault that they leave it in. Picture trying to cut out every single part of the tumour when it's pressing so close against the brain itself. No matter how hard they try there is still a possibility they won't get it all since there could be more then can be seen easily

Look for a Neurosurgeon in NSW!
Sorry, trying to make light of what seems a depressing situation. Keep cutting it out I guess, hope they get all of it this time, stock up on books, video games, movies, find someone to drive you, or something to keep you entertained. Perhaps a romantic partner or a gun, ammo and a box full of bunnies?

Already have a girlfriend, have a sword collection (live in Australia, gun laws are insane down here) and my dad has FOURTEEN FUCKING FERRETS (not to mention my sisters 4 cats and 1 dog...) so animals are sort of a "I want to kill these things!"

That's a rather general question. Any hints?
generally I like most things. Honestly, I'm almost tempted to pick up world of warcraft again. A game with a lot of depth is good because focusing on getting it 100% finished helps keep mind off of other things.

try the "point look out" add on for fallout 3 the main mission will really take your mind of brain surgery. (WHAT! they say humor is the best medicine right?)

try dead space you dont even have to shoot anything in th head its all about limb damage.

on a side note fallout 3 would actually keep you busy for hundreds of hours

Well all I can say is I hope it stays benign! Yeah, I heard World of Warcraft is a good timesink if you want to distract yourself. I play team fortress 2 a lot, that can be really fun for long doses too. I'd say keep doing what you're doing and try not to let it get you down. Well, as much as you can. I'd imagine having a brain tumour would be awful and I probably wouldn't deal with it as well as you have.

Well, first of all, my sympathies, it must be horrible.

As for things to do, you could find a hobby with a considerable reward at the end. Weightlifting, painting, musicianship, those sorts of things.

Gaming's good too, but I find when one is in a situation like yours, it's good to keep goals.
Currently I'm the registration coordinator and social events coordinator of Manifest, the Melbourne Anime Festival, largest anime festival and oldest in all of Australia. I've been doing all of the work myself so far however I'm going to have to become more of a team leader and organise other people to do things for me which I'm not a hurt fan of doing (I like doing things myself because then I know things are done right, but concidering the circumstances I sort of have to. (Sadly I haven't been getting so much of a good feeling from working with Manifest lately thanks to issues)

My sympathies. Glad it's benign. A friend of mine died at 16 from a brain tumor than had spread from his knees to kungs and finally brain. He collected and painted warhammer, I still have a couple of his models, I keep as memento's. Maybe you could give it a go.
