I'd just like to remind everyone that the Escapist has groups for both TF2 [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/The-Escapist-Team-Fortress-2-Group-PC] and L4D(/2) [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/Escapist-Left-4-Dead-Group], as well as a general PC group [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/Escapist-PC-Gamers]. Join them, add me on Steam (chimpyacee), and join us for a game or two!

Mass Effect is only £3.25?!?! MUST HAVE!
People that do not buy mass effect now do not have taste, or arent willing to try something new.
Or have Steam fucking them up :( My details have been fucked up, so "your purchase has not been completed. Please contact Steam Support for help".

It would happen when I leave for work in 55 minutes, then get back in 6 and a half hours time :( :(

EDIT: I would just like to say that @Amarok (AKA HumanFishBoy) is a legend of the highest regard, helping a fellow Escapist out when he really needed it :D

ARGH! I had the same problem. I tried it 30 times over 14 hours, and no help. The best part was that I first bought a copy for myself as a backup to my box copy (draconian DRM for the win!) and then tried to get one for my brother. That failed and I'm stuck with a redundant copy while he gets none.

Anyway today's deals are AWESOME!

Counterstrike: Source $5

Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3 $10.20

Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind GoTY: $5 (This is my favorite game of all time. I don't think true gamers can ever say that because of how different games are from each other, but this one was so far over all the other games I've played ever that I declared it the winner.)

Painkiller: Collectors Pack $8.75

Trine $5

Ok, last day of the sale. I was a little slow to update because it was all repeats.

Torchlight $5
GTA4 $7.50
Stalker $2 (I want to give this one a bolding, but I still haven't gotten around to playing it. There's a really cool mod pack my friend showed me that was a total conversion to bring the graphics up to 2009 standards. Regardless, $2 is completely worth it if the game is only half as good as people have said to me.)
Bioshock $5
Killing Floor $5 (This one gets my approval because it's $5 and decent. It's not amazing, but worth $5)
Left 4 Dead 2 $33.50

This seems like a useful thread. I might actually buy a game through Steam if I bump into a very delicious deal here.

Great thread idea Signa, I thought about doing something similar...so far I've bought 7 games in the past week...total cost: $18.00

Number of hours I'll get for that $18.00: 80+, easily.

Now that the holiday sale is done, and we are going to be seeing only 1 sale at a time, I'm returning to my old system of bolding game titles just for the sake of high-impact visuals, and not because I'm personally putting a gold-star on the game.

Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter is $6.80 this weekend

See? Now as you scan the page, you can see the deal without reading my ramblings.

King's Bounty: Gold Edition $11.25
Looks like a decent TBRPG. The games are $10 and $5 if you want them individually.

I try to focus on the deals that are extremely cheap and the ones you can't say "No" to, but Dirt 2 is $20 for the weekend deal, which makes it 50% off.

I've actually gotten quite a few good deals on Steam. Like Red Orchestra for $5 and DoD for about $5. Most of my games were purchased on sale save for good games like TF2 and HL2 which I purchased for full-price. You can look on my profile for my Steam name if you want to add me. I accept almost all invitations so invite away!

Men or War: Gold Edition is $11.90 for the mid-week deal. I've not heard of this one, but it is a RTS with a meta score of 80. The sequel Red Tide isn't rated, so if you want to play it safe, the original is only $5.10 during the sale.

Aliens Vs Predator Classic 2000 is going for $5. It's not a sale, but it caught my attention because it's $5 and my friends used to rave about it. It looks like it got enhanced for modern PCs, but it also looks like the multiplayer got stripped out. I'm pretty sure that's what my friends loved about the game. Still, $5 for what I've heard is a good game sounds like a sweet deal.

Company of Heroes Complete is $12.50 for the weekend deal. It's not often I hate a game as much as I do CoH, and still recommend it strongly to others. It's an amazing RTS that I find very unique and hectic. The game revolves around building smallish armies (Think Warcraft 3 sized armies and squads) and capturing points for more resources. There is a lot of micro-managing in the game, which is what kills it for me, but makes the game for my friends who love it. At $12.50, I can't recommend this strongly enough to any RTS fan out there, because the game is great enough to outshine my personal hang-ups on it.

To me, I find the game similar to a real-time version of Advanced Wars. Most of the gameplay elements that are in AW are also in CoH. The problem I have with the game is I have a really hard time controlling the game, and I always feel like I'm fighting the game interface and mechanics as much as I'm fighting the AI. I guess I got spoiled on Supreme Commander where you get the strategic zoom and MASSIVE armies that you don't really have to tell what to do because there isn't the same amount of depth in the skirmishes. There is a lot of depth to the battles in CoH, and you might compare it to a game of Chess, where you set up your pieces and have them defend their spot until someone creeps up with a stronger piece that you can't hit first. Once again, this game totally outshines the problems I have with it and I hope you all can have fun with it.
