Dear Escapist: This site is getting slower and slower

This site is just getting slower and slower. Any idea when it might work like it should or should we all just stop coming here?

I find it qute hilarious that this timed out before I could get to it.
It might just be due to the Skyward Sword review. Site goes batshit when Yahtzee does more popular games.

That is true, but things have been substantially slower and more unstable since the site redesign. I think there may be some bugs in the code.

First off, things are always going to be slow on Wednesdays, what with Zero Punctuation's ongoing popularity.

I do have to agree with the OP regarding general stability, though. I was hoping The Escapist would have taken the opportunity during the redesign to improve overall performance, but sadly that wasn't the case.

It's excruciating that I have to re-load a page and wait for 20 seconds for it to time-out. I love this site to bits and I know it's not my internet connection because this problem only occurs within this site. Not surprising though, considering how many people use the escapist.

And I have experience no site lag so far.

Nope, it's a Wednesday.

The site is slower in general, but has been improving since the redesign first came out (although the colours still haven't). It's always been impossible to load on Wednesdays after 4ish.

They did a site redesign... do you really expect it to be running 100% immediately? The fact that's its Wednesday doesn't help either.

It's awful, before the site redesign it was fine, even on Wednesdays.

Yeah... and i've been on this site for a while now, so i have a general feel of how this place runs...

I don't notice the ZP lag anymore due to the new layout lag, also the the chats are borked to hell.
I will be patient yes, it is a new thing, yes, but a sign of "we're working on it!" wouldn't go amiss.

There are bound to be some bugs in the redesign, which included a serious back-end reshuffle, once the site is under full load. That's what happens with websites. ZP traffic probably doesn't help either.
