The Half Life 2 mod is becoming a standalone game to be released through the Steam Store.

The mod is really great, but I'm kinda pissed off at it going commercial. I was looking at the screenshots for the remake, and thought it looked amazing, but I'm mad that now I'll have to pay for it.

I just feel ticked off that people following the mod were led on for so long, only to be told they now have to pay for it.

I will still buy it, because I loved the original. Its just disheartening to me after months of watching the updates roll in.

Oh, I'll still buy it. I just think it was a little unfair to the fanbase to keep releasing images supposedly for a free update, then getting slapped with a charge months later.

They worked their ass out to make this mod, I think it's okay to pay them money, to reward them for a job well done and appreciation of their work.

I guess the developers realized how much work was going into the game. It's easy to say "this'll be free," but a bit harder after you've spent hundreds of hours on it, and maybe some unseen cost/time overruns.
