Ugh... Just ugh... Like, seriously, ugh...

Now I like the internet, I'd probably go insane without the Escapist, but this has gone on too long. For such a sophisticated thing you really do harbor some, er, not so sophisticated people. It's starting to get tiresome, I feel like something should be done to lighten the flow of all this "stuff", with a massive fuck-off axe if need be. It's not funny, Internet, I'm sure the people here agree and yet every couple of days, there it is again. Like Jason Voorhees it's something that just refuses to die no matter how hard we bludgeon it. And it's something that isn't funny, isn't even worth getting pissed over any more, it just elicits a tired grown from us enlightened folks. I'm referring to, of course, your treatment of women.

Okay, I've never taken all this stuff seriously "women only date jerks" "fake nerd girls" and etc. very seriously, I thought it was isolated but now, well, I'm starting to think that there are lots of people who live in developed countries with modern views that actually legitimately hate women. I am talking despise. Young guys can go on and on through paragraphs and paragraphs of drivel about how women don't like him because they only like jerks and why or how bisexual women don't exist and so forth until you want to ram nails into your eyes. But as soon as a pretty lady says she likes video games she is a fake attention whore, trying to manipulate men. There just seems to be an inexhaustible supply of men who will do everything in there, albeit very limited, power to keep women away, to stop them being fully integrated and, well, I just don't understand it. My aunt is a relatively young woman who plays video games, even writes reviews on retro games and she's a model, a fashion model, so does she only spend her time and money and take interest in these things because she is a slut or attention seeker?

Christ, just look at Anita Sarkeesian (spelling?)

So my question is: Do the people who do all these "women only date jerks" and etc. and legitimately believe them actually, truly hate women?

Captcha: "Slender man is slender" No shit, captcha...

Personally, I think the "women only date jerks" crowd is less about hating women and more about trying to cover up their own failed attempts at a relationship by blaming it on the woman, rather than admitting to themselves it was their own fault.

I think it's the whole rationale of,

I'm a nice guy.
Girl doesn't like me.
Girl doesn't like nice guys.
Girls don't like nice guys.
Girls only date jerks.

I'm not a jerk and that's why I don't have a girlfriend.

It's just a way to make them feel better about themselves. As is the approach of being hyper-critical of a woman's appearance. "She's not interested in me but I wouldn't want her anyway because she has funny toenails."

I wouldn't go so far as hate but I think for a lot of men there is a certain level of bitterness that stems from the fact that no woman will have them when they've been led to believe they deserve one.

That's my guess at a basic level, I know it's a lot more complicated.

Some babes are in to bad boys, some aren't. Some people get sexually aroused by feet or strangling. It's just a matter of preference.

IMHO, it's best to avoid the ones who dig bad boys. Some may be hot, but the majority are batshit crazy and totally not worth the trouble.

As a straight male , i think women are overated . We should stop talking about them and just focus on the games . Anyways as a guy who has dated various types of women , games > women . I think im goin to hang up my jersey and focus soley on the games.

It is also about perceptions. The people I work with think I am of the "jerk" variety. You know, the alpha male type. However, I have never cheated on my wife, or any girl for that matter. I also regularly engage in "kissing" fights with my 4 year old and 18 month old son.

The folks at work don't see that though. All they ever see is the guy saying "Get this done", and "Don't do it that way, do it this slightly different way". The line of work I am in regularly employs a fresh batch of college kids, including young college girls. I am 30 years old, and I feel like I get hit on by a larger than normal percentage of young girls for no other reason than they view me as an alpha male jerk.

I am quite drunk, so that is all I have to say right now.

Here we go again. Who wants to bet on who gets thread locked? Anyone?

I kid y'all very much. I don't think that's going to happen here.

OT- Nah, OP. They probably just had bad luck at the time. Kinda like-

I seem to have the award of getting ninja'd the most. DAMMIT!

But yeah, that's my thought. I also think that most people choose to blame people to avoid blaming themselves. We all think we're perfect when we're not, at times, right?

I wouldn't no much about the squabbling of the common rabble. I usually dance alone and to a different tune then everyone else.

It can be interesting sometimes however to change the station once in awhile.
