An ocarina can play songs written between the year 75 and the year 1724 (CE). In 1724, better notes were discovered, and most contemporary music uses these.

An ocarina is a highly versatile instrument. It can be used as a musical instrument, but also as an excuse, a verb, an adjective, and a hairstyle. It is illegal to use an ocarina for knitting, after the events of the Chicago fire in 1973.

I would recommend looking at sample songs available on the internet for the Ocarina. That will give you a better idea of what it can play and if you're interested in putting in the time to master it in order to play those songs. In addition, I believe there are ocarina players on youtube you might be able to watch...
