Basically, my mates gonna come over and I would like for The Escapist to recommend a good splitscreen game for me to rent for the Xbox 360.

Portal 2 I already have so don't suggest it please :)
Thanks in advance!

You can have one player splitscreen? D:

Heh, sorry I don't know what you mean, but I'm just looking for a game that you can play with a friend on the same console, in splitscreen.

Competitive or co-op?

I think he meant if it can be only two-player, or just splitscreen. You can have 4-player with splitscreen too.

it's not splitscreen but worms games are always a giggle, and they're slow enough to be able to eat/drink/make jokes/kick the other guy while it's his turn.

There are some of them on xbox 360 but they're usually easier to get hold of as PC games.

Halo or CoD work well, all the Gears games have splitscreen co-op, fighting games are always good too, pick up Soulcalibur 4 or a Street Fighter title (if you're only renting, Mortal Kombat is a hoot) :D hope it helps.

Borderlands, Halo, Gears and Call of Duty: World at War are good ones.

I have high hopes for Hunted too.

The only reason i bought console is for co-op split screen games.
I played with my best friend, Gears of War, Gears of War 2, Army of Two, Army of Two 40 days, Halo: Reach and i have to say that all of those games are delicious in split screen, give you enough fun and when you are drinking alcohol while playing the terrible story telling doesn't stab you so painfully in the eyes.
Now i'm waiting for Hunted: Demon Forge and some money to buy it, also I'm considering Resident Evil 5 but personally don't like RE games.

Like some others, I would highly recommend Borderlands. It is very fun, provided you are into that sort of thing ;)

Well, there are games like Mortal Kombat that's two player but not 'split screen'.

Also, Red Faction: Guerrilla has a hell of a fun multiplayer mode that you pay the controller around to utilize.

Both Gears of War (1 and 2) and Resident Evil 5 use split-screen well, and both make the other person feel neccessary rather than just an extra guy who does his own thing. If you haven't tried those out, then go nuts. Castle Crashers (XBLA) is also a lot of crazy fun.

True, apologies, I understand now, and I'm strongly leaning towards the new Mortal Kombat, but suggestions are still welcome, thanks!

I assume you don't mean just split-screen but rather local multiplayer to which I recommend:

Borderlands
Portal 2
Castle Crashers
Trine

I'd stay away from W@W because of the horrendous way they split the screens.

I'm sorry, but you need a massive TV because they make the two player screens narrower than they should be.

OT: I would suggest Halo. It doesn't really matter which one, but I'd suggest either Reach or ODST because although the firefight on Reach is better, I preferred the campaign from ODST.
