With Metroid:Other M coming out, I got to thinking out the Wii games that I might be intersted in playing.
The rail shooters (HOTD Overkill + 2&3 Return, Resident Evil:The Umbrella/Darkside Chronicles, Ghost Squad)
Mario (Super Mario Galaxy + 2)
Metroid Prime Trilogy
Punch Out

I'm also interested in a few upcoming Wii games.
Epic Mickey
Metroid:Other M
Kid Icarus

Any thoughts Escapists?

My favourite Wii game was Super Mario Galaxy. I can't comment on the second but I'm sure that's superb as well.

Metroid Prime Trilogy=yes
No More Heroes (if you haven't already)
Twilight Princess=yes
Great thing about Wii is complete backwards compatability with GameCube, so also find
Pikmin 2
Zelda Wind Waker
Chibi-Robo
Super Smash Bros. Melee (I found it much better than Brawl)

You need advice on whether you should play Mario Galaxy or not? Just get it.

Punch-Out is good fun. It seems sort of out of place as full price game in this grim future that we are living in but it is well worth playing. Consider No More Heroes and Little King's Story as well.

Kid Icarus coming to the 3DS and not Wii but Epic Mickey does look promising. I would probably upgrade it from promising if I was a fan of Disney, at all...

Both Pikmin were re-released for Wii so backwards compatibility, and possibly new memory cards and controllers, shouldn't be needed. I also prefer the original to the sequel myself.

Punch-Out is an enjoyable trip down nostalgia lane. While it doesn't have every pugilist, it has most of the memorable ones. Gameplay hasn't really changed much though, so don't go in expecting any radical changes besides the visuals.

Of course, I have to throw in a recommendation for Super Smash Bros. Brawl if you don't have it already. It was the game that made be buy the Wii in the first place. If you liked previous installments, you can't go wrong. If you didn't, then this won't convert you.

For some old-school 2-D shooter action, I'd recommend the Metal Slug Anthology. Lots of fun with a friend, and you don't have to sink rolls of quarters into the machine anymore.

That's about all the Wii games I have, actually. The rest are Virtual Console downloads of old favorites.

Here's a few of my favourite games for the wii:

Boom Blox: Bash Party (fantastic party game)
Dead Space: Extraction (best rail shooter for the wii);
Godfather: Blackhand Edition (sandbox, vastly superior to the other console versions);
Little King's Story (Great light hearted strategy);
Metroid Prime Trilogy (Best first person shooter/adventure on any console);
Red Steel 2 (Great swordplay);
Silent Hill: Shattered Memories (One of my favourite survival-horror games ever);
Zak and Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure (Great puzzle/classic adventure game).

There are plenty more, but that should be a good start.

I don't see what everyone loves about No More Heroes, not saying I don't like it, I just found everything but the boss fights to be a bit too grindy, this has stopped me completing it purely because I don't want to spend 20 minutes of mook chopping to have about 5-10 minutes of epic battle.

Anyway my recommendations go to Mario Galaxy of course.

Wario Land Shake Dimension (or Shake It depending on where you live) if you want some great 2D platforming.

You can't go wrong with the Metroid Prime trilogy.

And though I personally find it to be lesser to other 3D Zelda games Twilight Princess is not bad.

Also try Cursed Mountain and Okami. I liked them a lot, though many people may disagree. The new Prince of Persia was decent too.

EDIT:Tatsunoko VS Capcom is also a great game! I had my misgivngs a first but it's just beautiful!

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (can't go wrong with a bit of Zelda)
Mario Kart Wii (many hours of insane racing)
Super Mario Galaxy (no explaination needed!)
Little King's Story (very underrated. It's a bit like Pikmin, for a quick summary)
Monster Hunter Tri (costs a lot if you're buying the classic controller aswell, but it's definitely worth it)

Onyx Oblivion

Borderlands Addict. Again.

I can't get enough of the old gamecube classic...Tales of Symphonia, at the moment.

The Wii version of Okami is solid, too!

Resident evil 4. Its the best on the wii. Seriously, it has more stuff on the wii version than on the ps2 and gc version. It has better aiming and lot better controls.
Seriously, its a really good game.
