This is rather typical marketing for Japan actually. Heck this sort of thing would be the only thing that would ever convince me to buy a Schick razor(they're the worst blades, over priced for their quality.) As someone who only buys mens razors because they're superior to women's razors for shaving any body part(don't need to shave my face anymore), Gillette is still the only mass market brand that I'll buy. But these, I'd consider.

Who knew that all along Gendo was just a happy-go-lucky guy if not for that itchy Amish beard.

And I don't know what planet you're from, but shaving equipment can be very deep and meaningful.

Oh Japan... though this is rather tame by their standards.

BTW, when's that piece of crap 4th Evangelion movie going to come out? It's been 3 years since the spectacular trainwreck of 3.0, I'm kind of anxious to see just how bad the final one can be.

Supposedly near the end of the year, since this is the year where the show takes place.

OT This is typical Japanese marketing, they have anime characters promote the stuff. Hell Code Geass went a step further and had one of the characters order Pizza Hut a few times

As with anything that gets super popular, it get commercialized to insanity.

This kind of nonsense doesn't effect the quality of the original series, it's just that Anno really likes money.

I haven't seen rebuild 3.0 yet but I hear it's... divisive.

Also, judging by the look on Asuka and Rei's faces in that one picture, I think the answer to the question of the hour is "What carpet?"

Please don't hurt me for that.

Probably 2016 since they have that animation expo thing going and all of the films so far have come out later than expected the whole series was supposed to end by 2012 when the first one came out. But no matter how much time they have it will never be enough to fix that 3.0 garbage. The real question is whether or not funimation will release 3.0 before 4.0 comes out.

Seriously, that's the most horrifying thing I've ever seen. Rei and Gendo smiling together will haunt my dreams. I will never be as happy as Gendo shaving in that picture.

It's weird to see Anno's creepy little arthouse project get this much marketing and advertisement. I know it's huge, but still. It's like seeing Lars Von Triers antichrist become an international mega hit, and suddenly their using it to sell toothpaste or something.

I suppose it's not much different from how we slap sports figures onto almost everything here in the States.

...and I'll admit, I'd buy a razor stand with a little figurine of Isaiah Mustafa on it.

Are those girls even old enough to have something to shave aside from the hair on their heads?

Hah, reminds me of this:

Extra irony points for being an ad for shaving cream and a game centered around cutting throats.

That's teach me to procrastinate, I wanted to use that title for a post discussing works of fiction (particularly Anime and Games) that people considered to be truly 'Deep and Meaningful' and why.

Ah yes, procrastination. The great killer of posts and work.
