It has the most generic landscapes I've ever seen. Very soon into the game I became very jaded to the surroundings. It was so generic, so unwelcoming to the eye.

The character 'customization' is a joke, considering there's about five or six alien races in the game universe.

The EGO system had potential. But very quickly I became aware that the perk points you spend are very minor and at no point will you ever get anything satisfying out of it.
You'll spend most of your time debating where to allocate your skills only to receive minor buffs such as cooldown reductions and conditional skills like "When crouched you take 3.0% less damage"

I ask why they could not have added something unique to each perk. I played through the whole story and maxed out the Stealth perk. Nothing good came from it. All my skill choices were minor and did not augment Stealth at all.
Why can't I have contact sensitive assassination with a melee weapon? Why can't I augment my stealth to do..ANYTHING, other than turn invisible. Why can't I specialize my stealth to do a specific task?

On that note there are no real classes, and in the later game you'll come to find that enemies come in absurd numbers and have a level of accuracy that boggles the mind. Not to mention the insta-spawning behind you rendering cover useless. Good luck.

I became bitter. Bitter with the fact that generic troops tear through shields and in turn have shields that are numerically superior in every way. Bitter with the fact that I'm supposed to be the hunter of alien artifacts whom braves the wrecks of ships but instead I chase rocks guarded by bugs or a scrapyard of generic enemies. And NO, you don't get any good loot in this game via dungeons or ark falls.

Oh the loot. It's all random. From drops to the main way you get it via what I've dubbed "Grind-boxes"
You have to spend keys that you may or may not get from events to buy boxes containing loot. It's all random though. No idea what you are going to get, ever. You could spend all your resources in hopes of getting a better sniper rifle, only to find that you got a pistol and shield. Even the stores are on a random interval. The inventory changes every hour or so, leaving you to rush back and forth between zones just to see if something good is there.

Oh also, PvP is a joke. You'll find the higher level characters tearing you a new one constantly. It's all about the guns, but the guns are random.
Level does not even really matter. If one is lucky enough with finding a drop; well tough luck, you can't win.

I beat the game. I'm bored. I am heading back to Pandora. GB can have the 3200 points I planned on giving to Trion.

Oh and you are wrong about the loot in Defiance. You know what you are going to get. The same guns you always get. Sometimes the names will be different colors but they are all the same damn guns

I think this game was made more as a 'We need to link this TV show to a game, let's make the game an MMO' decision as opposed to a 'here's a really good setting/idea/story for an MMO, let's make it' decision as most are.

I appreciate your review of the game, but out of curiosity, did you join the Escapist just to gripe about the game?

HAHAHAHA! that's exactly what I thought.

Anyways, the game was okay, nothing spectacular but it plays alright. I personally prefer watching the show to playing the game but that's just cause I'm not a big fan of MMOs...
