Well, the Hellboy movies kinda stunk, so it's not like we'll miss out on anything. But then I've never been a big fan of Del Toro's work.

That's too bad, I quite liked the first one and the second one is decent. Ron Pearlman as Hellboy is always what sold it for me, perfect casting in my opinion. I don't see why Del Toro couldn't just go a bit lower budget with this one, I think most of the fans enjoyed the other two less for the CGI moments anyway. Obviously a Kickstarter wouldn't work, way too much cash and way too much to ask of fans. I'm just disappointed that he has so little conviction that he would walk after throwing out a couple of phone calls. Ron and Del Toro keep talking this thing up, about how they had envisioned the movies as a trilogy for a while and now to simply balk at it because it looks like it might require a little extra work? It's just looks lame, at least on the surface.

As to why the higher price, the answer is simply greed. It's the same exact thing that affects video games.
Sorry for snipping your comment since you make some very valid points but I just wanted to add to the price and greed argument as well!.

So if someone like me a fan of Hellboy (the films) helps fund this 140 million dollar kickstarter, and it goes into production, how is it going to be distributed to all the cinema's?, am I then going to have to pay to watch it as well?

I thought i heard a while back that Ron Pearlman wasn't too keen on the idea of another Hellboy movie mainly because the time it took to get into the makeup.

Ron Pearlman is fine right where he is, on Sons of Anarchy and doing narrations for 1000 Ways to Die.

You know, I watched the two Hellboy movies on TV because there was nothing to watch. And I gotta say I liked them. So I wouldn't mind seeing a third movie.
And getting a lot of vocal support from fans doesn't mean a thing. We usually ask for cool thing and when they're delivered, we don't back them up properly. But still, I'd like to see a sequel, especially if there are baby Hellboys involved.

But Hellboy 2 was terrible... is there really even any interest in another movie?
A lot of people quite liked it. I thought it was pretty good.
Yeah, that was a dicky thing of me to say. I kind of loved the original, and had a bad movie going experience with the second one. I guess I just didn't really give it a chance.
