I have a problem, so this is not a topic for discussion, just help me. My brother just deleted my user account on the computer and I didn't have a backup, nor a password, now all of my files are gone (I also didn't have any backup programs) and there was a lot of stuff there, can I do anything to get the files back. (also the fu**ing y and z inverted so this took a lot of time to write but I can handle that myself)

Take it somewhere professional. I think that until it's fully wiped from the harddrive the files are still kicking around somewhere, so there's a chance you can save them.

But I'm not 100% sure on that. Could be worth a try though.

There was a wonderful little program I used a while ago when my hard drive crashes. Runs on Knoppix, so you boot from a CD, run the undeleter, recover the files and good times are had by all. I just can't remember for the life of me what it was called or where I got it from.

Also, if you're wondering, that freezer trick actually works quite well.

Additionally, not a court in the world would convict you of fratricide right now. Except maybe Texas.

If your brother was kind (or alternativelly) dumb enough to keep the files stored on his user account (which is a default setting upon deleting accounts) then tou can rape and pillage his account.

Or, you could beat him to death.

You can plan your elaborate revenge on him.

In the meantime take it to the professionals. I doubt your brother was able to fully wipe your account.

Yes he did, I found some files with TuneUp Undelete but they are all fu**ed up, can't do sh** with them, the only thing that I'm sorry for is the reason for doing it, I was watching TV he was on the computer, he yelled to me to come see something, I said no, he said he'd delete my account and that I have 5 seconds, I thought he was joking...

Well, if you can't get those files back, you know what to do next time. Back dat shit up and secure it with a password somehow.

Pretty much this, they save to either his desktop or his *username* folder

I was defragging every week, and also after every install, and I installed Mass Effect just before he deleted them.
