I just feel that they're betraying what they used to be. They used to be completely objective, then it all changed. Now they are happy about anygame when the creator is on set, and then when it comes out they have no problem trashing it. Nothing but theobvious is rated badly any more andthey're not a funny show made up of reviews, they're an almost funny show with one review then previews and more bullshit i don't care about. I miss you old xplay, please come home.

Not since the Resident Evil 5 review. It was so unprofessional and just straight up lies that there had to be something behind it. I mean, the game wasn't the best I've ever played but the one thing that they complained about was how you had to stop and shoot. That doesn't make any sense because they didn't even mention that in the review of Resident Evil 4 which was a better game and got a better score, but for different reasons. I don't listen to many reviewers and they just seem so unprofessional and full of lies.

They used to be cool. I used to believe in them. Then they stopped reviewing games and went on to become the awfulness that they are now. It's OK. I don't blame them. It's all G4's fault for becoming MTV for gamers.

It was X-Play that had me stoked about Terminator Salvation. They had the developer on set and talking about how the game would play. They made it sound so awesome. Then I rented it. Never watched it since.

Sometimes, I played and liked some games they gave high scores and even some they gave low scores.

It's only recently they managed to get me interested in getting my hands on Assassin's Creed 2 and Brutal Legend. but at recent times Yahtzee with his ZP reviews ended up being the game review series I trust the most.

I think I've only seen the review of X3, which is pretty hilarious.

Other than that, I've gathered that X-play reviews are a joke and haven't cared to watch any.

I agree, it used to be good, but now I think they have other people reviewing there games, like what the fuck was with letting stark review halo odst the dudes not going to be objective about it since he's a maga halo fan.

Agreed. That show used to rock and be funny. Bob and Steve, Drunk Link, foul mouthed Stan Lee,that filthy puppet, and much more, all used to be some really funny sh*t. They are no more and are missed.

Ugh, I used to. But ever since they turned themself into 'X-attackof-g4tv.com-playshow" I stayed away from it.
And I love the old episodes, what happened to them? How come I can only watch them on G4 rewind?

I used to watch back when they were TechTv, then G4 TechTv. After the switch to G4 their episodes became much more boring, and stopped having as much fun.

Exactly. I haven't watched it in a really long time because they started having previews of every other game that's coming out, have interviews, etc. I don't care about that, I want to watch you review games. Heck, sometimes, the disembodied voice would be funny. But they got rid of that.

X-Play was awesome, but now it's not even close to what it once was.

I agree with the common sentiment here. Back in the day, X-Play had great reviews, and the hosts actually played the games. Now the hosts just serve as narrators for other people's reviews which, unfortunately, tend to suck. It kind of takes the territory of Zero Punctuation reviews; they're entertaining to watch, but you'll never actually listen to them when you go out to buy a game. Of course, TV channels are in the business of entertainment, and hence the show remains.

Some of the reviews are just puzzling. I can't think of any off the top of my head, but in some very recent reviews it was evident that they played less than 4 hours of a game before giving it a score. The Resident Evil 5 review in particular stuck out.

On a side note, the show was a step up from Judgment Day. I believe they got rid of it, but it was basically two guys getting together and reviewing random games. They gave Tales of Symphonia a 3.5/10 because it was "stupid", and "making a sandwich after a battle is just dumb". I paraphrased, but those were two actual reasons they gave in their review.

Every review needs to be taken in perspective, for example Yahtzee loves First-Person-Shooters and doesn't really like RPGs, I'm the opposite, so I interpret reviews from his perspective. The same goes for X-Play. Adam is a fantastic diplomat, but he is looking at games the same way Lenin looked at Communism: "We are good, we are righteous, we are disrespected, but we must spread! We are the Will of the People!". I look at games based solely on entertainment value.

Plus, the G-4 (Morgan, Adam, Olivia, and Kevin) are all enjoyable personalities and I tend to trust the G4 more than IGN or even here.

I watch X-Play to see what the latest games are, for their comedy shorts, and video-game industry news. I never buy a game based solely on their review and score, but I do take their opinion and gameplay footage into account. When I bought most of my games, I didn't need their reviews, but I did check their reviews after I bought the game to see what they thought. I can honestly say that X-Play and I have similar preferences, but differing opinions on what made the game good/bad.

The Resident Evil 5 review is what made me stop watching them and made me think they only give games with hype a 5. People who were fans of shooters who like running and shooting played the demo and claimed it was gay for no run in gun and saw it as "teh wurst game eva OH M GEE i gos back to my super action gun gun pew pew boom explosions game nao", so WHAT DO YA KNOW they give it a 3. Personally i think it deserved at LEAST a 4.
In my opinion, Resident Evil 5 was a 4 and Resident Evil 4 was a 5. I'm looking through the recent reviews and I wasn't surprised to find that they gave the most hyped games 5s and actually good games lower scores. Like, I'm reading the one for DJ Hero right now and from the looks of it they have no good reasons for why they gave it a 3. They said that the crossfader was too hard to use and it said that "Interface does a poor job informing players of mistakes." Funny, because I found the crossfader relatively easy to use and the interface told me that I was making mistakes by stopping the track when I messed up just like in Guitar Hero. Either way, their reviews are so terribly unprofessional and make no sense whatsoever. I just gave up on them.

I mean every game such as Call of Duty or Gears or Halo or any of that nonsense they give 5 stars and make it seem like its pure gold.
Those games are pure gold...they make tons of money and many people and most critics think they are great.

Although I may not agree with the statement I just made haha.

OT: I think they used to be funny so I watched it for the information and the humor, but besides that, idk maybe sometimes I might, but not most of the time.

But no one's opinion can dictate if i would actually buy the game or not.

I like the show and respect their opinions, but in the end it's what I think that matters....
