Talking over clips of the game, but not live footage. As in, don't be playing the game as you review it, but have footage to demonstrate your point. Also, use an in-game image for the thumbnail, it looks a shitload more professional.

Agreed, this man has good tatse in opinions and Animes.
A "good taste in opinions"...what the hell does that mean? Is he good at picking critics or something?

You should be concerned with the process more than the format. Getting a good quality audio recording, doing multiple takes, tightly scripting what you are planning on saying, tightly editing work down... all very important if you want your video to be appreciated.

Just a few other things I notice about internet video reviewers. Don't institute a long opening sequence for your reviews. They're annoying and they just end up getting skipped. Don't talk about yourself or what you are doing, just get straight on with the review. We don't want to hear someone waffling about their day. Brevity is the soul of wit should be a mantra.

He agreed in my opinion, so I said he was good at picking opinions.

I was complimenting myself. The anime thing was because he has Vash for an avatar.

Yeah, mostly faces, with clips put in too.

This is blatant promotion for me, but I was told that my Braindead review has a good structure as far as the footage of me/footage of review subject.

If you do have clips, it's good to narrate over them, with the game sound muted but present.
Where did you get the prop gun? Looks great (Webley isn't it?).

You should have probably described the plot before describing the taste/the culture/the gore etc. Also, getting the audio (your audio and the film's audio) to overlap one another would be nice.

Get rid of the hat though. It isn't funny. Nor was the zombie shooting scene. Jokes are really hard to pull off on camera, so unless you have impecable delivery, I wouldn't even bother with them. Your reviews can still be funny, just don't labour it with random sketches.

Both, cause your face is so beautiful/sarcasm...and Im curious to see what Nuclear looks like. I bet he looks like a green penguin, I got 20 bucks on it!

And the viewer understands you more if you show a clip of gameplay or a cut scene. Now, do it evil Hench-monkey!

Here, watch some of this guy's reviews: http://www.youtube.com/user/RedLetterMedia

Look around on YouTube and search for more reviews. Compare professional video reviews, like those published by IGN and Gamespot, to amateur ones. What do you notice?

1. The good ones know that they are working in the medium of video, and so they use a hell of a lot of moving clips. Static shots work in Zero Punctuation because it's a cartoon; you are making a video, so you need to use moving clips. (This is one of the major reasons why MovieBob is so awful.)
2. The good ones know that they are reviewing something, not making a vlog. There are fewer things more boring to film than your own face in front of a webcam.

Remember: if you're not going to make it visually interesting, why aren't you just writing it down? Rely on your clips from the game much more than your own head. I don't know who you people are, and I certainly don't give a fuck about you, so why would I watch a review that showed me more of your face than of the game your video is supposedly about?

If you had anything original to say then yes.
