The thing about using your dominant hand for strumming is that strumming is more important than you think, because that's how you keep the rythym and the beat, and it should be as natural and fluid as possible.

It's only since the advent of riffs and the use of plectrums that it might seem silly.
Hardly silly, unless it's punk or more simple stuff. Triplets or other n-tuplets, quick string skipping, economy picking, and pinch harmonics are all pretty difficult techniques to do consistently.
Play the bit at 2m42s with your weaker hand and I'd be impressed. And that doesn't even sound that hard!

Lefty, and I play normal. Makes the most sense to me.
Same here. Just feels right to play it normal, my left hand is better at the complicated stuff.

I'm right handed. I fret with my left hand and pick/strum with my right, as standard. I've not tried to play the other way around, and have no real desire to try it.

I know a lefty who plays the same way as I do. He does so because it's how he was thought.

I play right handed, can't do it lefty. I picked up a lefty guitar at a music store once, then tried and failed to do it.
Strangley, though, I can play drums left-handed, not as good as my right-handed playing, but I can play decent kick, snare, hi-hat grooves, and switch up my hands on the hats from time to time.

My advice is just play however is most comfortable for you.

I play right handed because I am right handed... but I have a left handed friend who plays Guitar Hero right handed so I would assume he plays the regular guitar that way as well.

I am left handed and I tried to play the guitar using my left hand to strum and my right hand to fret but I actually found it more difficult. I've swapped hands now and am learning to play the 'right handed' way. It just feels more natural. I'm still an utter noob though :)

Lefty, playing the natural, LEFTY way. Only problem I've ever had was finding a fucking guitar in the first place... -.-
Restringing and correcting bridge is a pain in the ass. (From second hand info)
I get a guy I know to do it for me. I'll learn eventually, but he says he's fine doing it for me for the moment.
