Not just consoles, but games on all platforms the last 10 years.

- Demon's Souls
- Ni No Kuni
- Dark Souls
- Mass Effect series
- Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword
- Xenoblade
- Star Craft 2
- Grand Theft Auto IV
- Super Mario Galaxy
- Street Fighter IV series
- Bioshock series
- Metal Gear Solid 4
- Batman Arkham City
- Dragon Age 1 (only the first one)
- Skyrim

Biggest disappointment = Diablo 3.... Just isn't as addictive or as engaging as previous game and we waited 10+ years.

Not best games necessarily, but the most memorable to me.

- Silent Hill: Shattered Memories
Perhaps THE most underrated game of this generation, probably mostly because many people just could not or did not play it. The best use of Wii Controls outside of maybe Wii Sports, a good story that remakes the first game in a clever way, great atmosphere and fun adventurey gameplay.

- Mirrors Edge
Fresh and Fun and good looking, an action game that strays away from the usual FPS archetypes while still keeping you constantly on edge (unsure if pun was intended)

- Bastion
In all honestly, i don't really like the artstyle, and the gameplay isn't THAT memorable, but it is still so well crafted and has an amazing soundtrack and does so much with so little

- Alan Wake
Remedy Games are just...special. The awful face animations, the somewhat loose story and some awkward gameplay moments (some of wich obviously taken from when it was still a Open World Game) don't diminish that much. Beyond that, it looks and plays pretty well, and while there is more than enough games that have SOME similar elements, no game is quite like it.

- Bioshock series
Unique and great visions, amazing designs, well designed games and of course, baffling, shocking and awesome plot twists.

- Mass Effect series
You fly around in a spaceship, shooting people, making awesome friends and saying awesome stuff. What's not to like.

- Portal Series
So great, even thier own creators steal from it (lookin' at you, Quantum Conundrum)

- The Walking Dead
While admittedly not everything it was made up to be (regarding player's choice and the like), i couldn't care less. Great characters in a good story.

- Batman Arkham Asylum
It's Batman done right, and Batman done best (far superior to Arkham City, in my opinion).

And, perhaps most importantly:
- ROCK BAND
It may be all but forgotten now, but it defined the generation for me. I had so much fun playing it with so many people (many of wich aren't really gamers at all) that it was easily worth the tons of money i put into it (no DLC this generation was quite as exciting than that one song you always thought would be great for RB finally being released)

Not in any particular order but here goes:

1) Fallout: New Vegas - I've been replaying it on the PC recently after smashing the 360 version and I've fallen in love with it all over again.
2) Dark Souls - I've clocked up about 300 hours across 4 characters. Loved it so much I bought Demon's Souls for my brother PS3 just to give myself a taste of more souls.
3) Dead Rising 1/2 - Just dumb fun and some of the bosses were awesome (Like Adam)
4) Mass Effect 2 - Didn't like that they stripped back a lot of the RPG elements from the first one but loved that they made it control so much better :D
5) Batman Arkham Asylum - A GOOD BATMAN GAME AT LAST!
6) Arkham City - Taking Asylum and going bigger and better
7) Left 4 Dead 2 - I'm so close to full gamer score but I can't get the bloody 4 v 4 team one >_<
8) Lost Odyssey - The last JRPG I properly loved
9) Deus Ex: HR - Good fun and a great continuation to the series, even if it did feel a bit lacking compared to the original
10)Oblivion - One of the first games I owned on my 360 and the reason I got into Bethesda games like Fallout 3/NV and Skyrim

I can't decide on actual ranks, so just my 10 favorite games from this generatin:

Arkham Asylum
Arkham City
(This Space Reserved for Arkham Origins...having watched that 30 demo, I'm positive I'm going to love it)
Mass Effect 1
Mass Effect 3 (I would say ME2, buuuuuuut as much as I like the series, I've liked other games more than the 2nd installment)
Oblivion
Skyrim
Bioshock
Bioshock Infinite
And Left 4 Dead 2.

Now, since i'm allowed to condense entire series into one slot...
(Edited to add in explinations)

Arkham Series
What's there to say? Easily the best set of Batman games ever made. The combat flows perfectly and when you get good at it by getting good at counters and throwing in some gadgets every now and then, it really captures the feel of what it'd be like to be Batman fighting 10 guys at once. I thought the stories have been fun in a comic-booky kind of way, and lets face it: the best part about the Batman series is the villains that he's up against, and these games are full of all the big names.

Mass Effect Series
Easily my favorite series of this generation. I remember beating the first game and thinking it was amazing...then I heard it was going to be a trilogy...then I heard that said trilogy is going to have save files carry over from one game to the next. At that point I started bouncing giddily like Liara after finding a new Prothean digsite. At the end of ME3, when all the squadmates are saying "This could be it, so I just wanted to say goodbye", it felt like they were breaking the fourth wall and saying goodbye to me (yeah, I'm a dork, I know)...but I had spent so much time with these characters...so many hours, so many playthroughs...I got very emotional due to all the goodbyes as it really finally sank in "This is it...the end to the saga".

Elder Scrolls Series
What's there to say? Perhaps the greatest first-person RPG series ever made. Bethesda releases buggy-ass games, but god damn are they good at story telling. It's what I like to call an A.D.D. RPG because TES will make you feel like you've got A.D.D. like nothing else will. "Well I'm supposed to be going over here to save some guy from a castle...but wait! That mage's guild quest is nearby! I want to explore those ruins! Look over there! A dragon's nest! Gonna go get me a soul and a new shout! But wait, the Assassin's Guild quest is in that town overthere and those quests are ALWAYS fun! You start the game with a clear purpose: Gonna go save the Empire (or in Skyrim's case, "Gonna go save the province!") but as soon as you're out of the gate the game tells you "Alright, go have fun. We don't mind how, just know that there IS a main questline somewhere around here, but don't let that distract you from the countless other distractions in this game."

Bioshock Series
Great stories, great characters, great gameplay. Not much else I can say about it. :3

Darksiders Series
Having never played a God of War game, I had to settle for these "Like God of War but..." games. And sorry, but I did get swept up in the whole "You're one of the Four Hoursemen" business...that alone makes the games badass if you ask me. :p

Left 4 Dead series
Mindless fun running through zombies with three of your close buddies. Plenty of zombie head explosions and a pretty decent challenge if you're not a sissy and play on the difficulties above Normarl.

Portal Series
Easily the best set of puzzle games I've ever played. So unique and interesting...many of the puzzles have actually rather simple solutions, you just got to wrap your head around all the possibilities that having two pllaceable portals gives you.

Koei Warriors Series (the Dynasty, Samurai, and Orochi gammes)
Mostly the Dynasty Warriors, I love the story and characters from that series and I have loved it ever since the Romance of the Three Kingdoms games back on the early generation consoles and, even before that, Destiny of an Emperor on the NES. Dynasty Warriors got me to play Orochi, and Orochi got me to play Samurai Warriors. But Dynasty will always be my passion.

Aliens vs Predator
Been an AvP fan since the first shooter came out on PC back in the 90's. To this day, I still say that AvP2 on the PC is one of the best shooters I've played. And this generation's incarnation of AvP did not disappoint me by any means...frickin' love that stuff.

Annnnd I'll round things off with my favorite Ninja simulator: Tenchu Z.
While it doesn't have the greatest looks of this generation, I just LOVE working my way around a level, picking of the guards one by one. It's almost a puzzle game in that you have to determine which guards to take out in which order so as to avoid being spotted by another guard on patrol. And every now and then you pull off something that's truly ninja-esque and it makes you feel even better.

I am mostly a PC player but I did manage to play through a bunch of PS3 games as well.

1. Mass Effect Trilogy - After roughly 23 years of gaming, hands down the best games I have experienced.
2. World of Warcraft - Absolutely the closest thing to crack in gaming, once you get sucked in its hard to get out.
3. Dead Space 2
4. Bioshock
5. Dragon Age Origins
6. Metal Gear Solid 4
7. Mirror's Edge
8. Uncharted 2 Among Thieves
9. Super Street Fighter 4 - A fighting game you say? yes....it is amazing. Easily the best fighting game (followed closely by MK9) of this gen.
10. Crysis

Bearing in mind I haven't played all the big name games this generation, of the ones I did, and including the PC, Xbox 360, PS3 (which I did not play), Nintendo Wii and DS, and a couple from Kongregate, probably in order -

1. Left 4 Dead 2
2. Rock Band
3. Orange Box (specifically - Half Life 2: Episode 2 and Team Fortress 2)
4. Little King's Story
5. Super Mario Galaxy
6. Geometry Wars (the game that got me in to this generation along with Pac-Pix)
7. Mass Effect 2
8. Locke's Quest
9. Excite Truck
10. Giants vs. Dwarves TD

Big name games that I did play that did not make my list (because I only half enjoyed them) - Halo Reach, Mass Effect 3, Bioshock, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Zelda Skyward Sword, Star Craft 2, Portal 1/2

Yet to play but I'd probably like them - Demon Souls, X-Com Enemy Unknown

Honorable mentions - Kingdom Rush, Ghost Hacker, Tenchu Z, Battlestations: Midway, Earth Defense Force 2013, Vanquish, Halo ODST

Well it's always fun to update one's list (I think I've posted on another Top 10 of the Seventh Gen thread). So, as of October 2013; I'll likely not get a chance to do another in November.

10: Bayonetta

I haven't finished Bayonetta, but even from what I've played it brings me much enjoyment. I'm not very experienced in Hack n' Slash but I enjoy the controls and the spectacle. Even the constant repetition of the music doesn't put me in a bad mood. It does have it's pit falls like the Quick Time Events and the Ship Enemies (FUCK YOU SHIP ENEMIES), but overall it's a very good experience.

Edit: Finished Bayonetta last night, though I'm not changing the position even with that ending.

9: Halo 3 and ODST

Both are quite good in terms of world building and scale. ODST I'd say is superior but Halo 3 is the game which is more about being fun as opposed to trying to engage, so they stand about even. ODST has stronger characters, but 3 has stronger villains. I like the art style of 3 and ODST, they didn't try to look realistic unlike their competitors yet they still looked grounded. Despite their disappointing lengths they did tie up the series well and I'd call them good experiences, not so much good games.

8: Silent Hill: Shattered Memories and Silent Hill Downpour

The two best Silent Hill games of the last 10 years, upsetting in most ways but ultimately Shattered Memories and Downpour have proven at least to me that Silent Hill is still an excellent series and worth taking seriously today. Though in all fairness compared to it's biggest competitor Resident Evil, Silent Hill is a 5 star triumph in 'horror'. Both SM and Downpour have excellent atmospheres, both dabble a little bit in the concept (one with Ice, the other with Rain and prison). The characters of both are engaging enough to want to keep playing, and the gameplay of both is strong enough to keep you going. Of course the story is the strong arm of the games and besides the occasional screw up like the final boss fight and endings of Downpour, it solid and well put together.

7: Hitman Absolution

I know it's called Shitman Abomination but I couldn't help myself. I find Absolution very entertaining, challenging and more importantly fun. It's the kind of game which I can play over long periods of time and it's just what I go on if I feel like a few hours of entertainment. The stealth is well done and I was never really put off by it's inconsistent tone. It also convinced me to buy that prequel novel thing which, while not very good, did allow me to enjoy the game more.

6: Portal.

I can't think of any flaws for it, it's just a damn good puzzle game with a nice little atmosphere of it's own. Sure the fan storm that followed was irritating but it doesn't take away from the fact that Portal is a fantastic game.

5: BioShock and Remember Me

I shouldn't have to explain BioShock, we live on the internet so we've heard it all before. Though I don't find the ending as shit as the internet does.

Remember Me I enjoy in general, but I do find it's odd combination of Mirror's Edge with God Hand and memory mixing quite entertaining.

4: Gears of War 1

Though Gears of War 2 is superior in gameplay, I enjoy the world and the mood of Gears 1. I'm never going to forgive Epic Games for removing the Kryll after 1 and butchering them in subsequent appearances (seriously, what hell Gears 3/Judgment?) because if somebody asked me what tone Gears 1 set I'd point at the Kryll chapters and say 'pretty much that'.

Gears was also young and innocent at this point and didn't have legions of fans to defend it, making it's cover based shooting brown-a-thon much more tolerable and enjoyable at some points. The plot loses it at the end, though but the PC version manages to patch it up to a certain degree.

3: TES IV: Oblivion and Dead Rising 2

Already explained this countless times, the faults people point out with it don't bother all that much. Maybe it's just overexposure but I do love Oblivion, warts and all.

DR2 was just a fun Zombie sandbox which juxtaposed against a plot which was taking itself too seriously (though I did enjoy it). A very bizarre difficulty curve and a frankly stupid approach to travel give it this whimsical charm that I absolutely adore.

2: Rayman Origins

Nice platformer, good difficulty curve. It looks good, sounds good, has charm and is well presented. It's good to see Rayman come back in style after the whole Rabbids horror. Like Portal, I can't think of a fault with it.

1: WoW: Wrath of the Lich King.

I know it's an expansion, but WotLK was my favourite part of WoW and I've had more fun with WotLK than I have most, if not all the releases of this generation. Best continent, balance of 'new' and 'old' WoW questing, nice raids (besides one), nice dungeons and the Lich King himself will always have this love-hate relationship with me. Just a shame that it had a crap ending.

In no order:

Fallout: New Vegas
Just Cause 2
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Mass Effect 1&2 (In retrospect, 3 was an absolute turd.)
Brothers In Arms: Hell's Highway (Only shooter in recent memory where I actually gave a crap about the characters.)
Fallout 3
Max Payne 3
GTA V
Saints Row 2

If I had to pick a favourite, it would probably be NV, I just really liked how fleshed out the world was in comparison to 3, the characters, the setting, it was great.

God of War 1 (GoW1) was on PS2.

Gears of War 1 (Gears 1) however was on the 360.
Sorry, just nitpicking, but people tend to get this one mixed up all the time which can confuse people.

GoW = God of War
Gears = Gears of War.
Yeah, fine. I'll change it in a second.

Honestly....im shocked to see Not a lot of The Last of Us mentions...
Maybe the honeymoon phase is over? Either that or people just genuinely don't like it as much as the games that came out over the years.
