I just use the "Fantasy Soundtrack Project" mod which combines a bunch of smaller soundtrack mods and adds some of its own tracks. Like the title implies, it adds a ton of fantasy themed soundtracks. I think some are from games and others are from freelance composers. I've had it for about 100 hours of gameplay and I'm very satisfied with it. It plays different tracks depending on whether you're in a town, castle, or dungeon, or if you're just exploring (also, different tracks for exploring in the morning, afternoon, evening), or if you're in combat.

You can find it here: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/46518/?

IMO it's easier than picking dozens of tracks for every situation, but maybe this thread will prove me wrong

These pleasant Soule pieces may fit in well enough for exploration:

These might do for combat:

These seem like they might suffice as tavern music:

I don't know how they'd sound together. A bit mental, I should think, but they're all good pieces.

I just use a mod that puts the Morrowind and Obilvion OSTs in the game. Unfortunately, I don't completely agree with how the soundtrack was implemented in all cases, so I may be looking for a mod that gives me more control over that. Morrowind combat music sounds weird while fighting a dragon, for example.

For Dungeons I recommend
Pretty much every dungeon theme from Diablo

Trust me these really add a good amount of atmosphere to the Dungeons in that game and actually got me a little nervous at times. I highly recommend the Catacombs theme.

Oh and these are pretty good too depending on the cave/dungeon

Theme for Dragon fights or just any epic battle

Then here are some recommendations for over world and battle music.

Try something a bit different! I recommend Emancipator Remixes; they're a weird modern fit for the cold beauty of skyrim!

So it seems I am completely unable to figure out how to make this spoiler thing work. Still fixing.
Click 'quote' on one of the existing posts and everything that person posted gets copied and pasted out in code, so you can just click, drag and delete what you want.

The music on Solstheim doesn't quite seem to play right. I could swear it skips occasionally. Do you know if the music files were just re-used from Morrowind, or they re-mastered them in some way?

They are the exact same tracks as far as I know.

Add the extended Galaxy News Radio [http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/14946] from FO3 to your music! Because what's better than fighting dragons while listening to

I linked a mod for FO3, but I'm sure it's possible to make it work in Skyrim somehow ;-)

Edit: As a workaround, you could also disable the music in Skyrim and run Silvertone Radio [http://silvertoneradio.com/about-us/] in the background. They seem to have a pretty similar tracklist.

Hmmm I can think of a good one for when you transform into a werewolf/get into combat as a werewolf:

There is only one true answer to a question like this. And that answer -if you're interested- is of course... this:

If it isn't making much sense, skip to 1:27 and everything will become clear ;)

For combat I would recommend some old school Genesis (back when Peter Gabriel was with them); songs like The Knife and Return of The Giant Hogweed are perfect for fantasy combat.

Some of them are good for general exploration too.

Are there any specific tracks you'd recommend from the Morrowind soundtrack? I haven't actually played Morrowind so I'm not too familiar with its OST.
The entire OST? XD

Well, some personal favorites include:

'The Road Most Travelled' is great, well...road-travelling music:

This is great for towns:

Well if you want something that fits the theme then I guess Dragon Attack by Queen would be appropriate
