Despite parallels in appearances, Gabe Newell is not Santa Clause and doesn't have a magical list of things all the good little gamers want. I'm sorry that Telepathy isn't a thing yet but until it is you're going to have to settle with people asking for things they want.

on a half related note the AWP Sapphire looks like something Gearbox threw out of its design doc for being a sniper rifle with glow sticks glued to the stock.

I think you give too much credence to the seriousness of the "and give me one" line. It's an ASCII image that gets copy-pasted around. I don't think most people are willing to alter it. I'm also pretty sure that these same people want one of those items in their respective play experiences. If anything I admire their collective restraint in not asking Valve to add it, give them one, and do it now.

So the OP starts off by saying people are awful for demanding that Valve adds stuff to their games...then turns around and says Valve should add stuff to their games?

In any case, I don't think people are actually expecting Valve to give them whatever they ask for. They're merely expressing their enthusiasm for community items they really like so Valve knows it's popular with their customers. That IS one of Steam Workshop's major functions after all, to give the average consumer a say in what they'd like to see in future updates. Ultimately it's up to Valve to make the final decision, but the feedback likely does play a role in narrowing the selection down.

Having said that, it would probably be more helpful to them if the feedback was more substantial than "OMG THIS IS TEH EPICCCCZZZ!!!"

Probably because it doesn't fit the game's thematic and aesthetic styles? I haven't played much in the way of Counter-Strike games, but aren't the "realistic" guns supposed to be a big part of the draw? No self-respecting military organization would issue sniper rifles with bright neon colors that scream "I'M OVER HERE!" to the enemy.

Then again we are talking about Valve here. After all, they allowed these [http://i1184.photobucket.com/albums/z339/Brooze_B/LimeGreenSoldier.png] to exist in TF2, so I guess anything is possible...[footnote]Okay, I'll admit I'm cherry picking some of the more obnoxious cosmetic loadouts. Still, my point stands that I preferred the more coherent art style of pre-Hat Fortress 2.[/footnote]

I'm pretty sure no one is seriously asking for one.

I don't want a low content warning, so I'll add that I think there should be more cosmetics that fit in with the 60's spy movie vibe the game used to have. Now it's just "As long as it's cartoony."

I thought this was going to be a Half Life 3 thread.

They owe us Half Life 3. We paid for and enjoyed the original, same with the sequel and the two episodes, only to be left on a cliffhanger. The least they can do is give us another chapter or a conclusion.

the only part of the valve community I have had long term contact with is the TF2 forum..
the add x isn't so bad with the TF2 community though TF2 is taking ideas for new items, the worse thing there (item wise) is the daily threads asking for things to be buffed or nerfed ...
though the TF2 forums are a bit of a cesspit (specially compared to here) the best I can describe it is a trail mix of crap mostly whining/begging mixed with bashing (usually of COD players sometimes bronies) and trolls with the occasional actually good thread mixed in

More and more I play TF2 the overall players make the game feel like a cesspit, always people insulting one another or telling people to die or fuck off, Cry moar etc, I've been on 20 servers this week alone and the majority were filled with people throwing insults at each other, I'm actually finding it hard to find more servers that do less than 50 ping and have instant respawn because I can never ever go back to waiting 10-15 secs for each death, insta spawn just lets me get back into the action and turn the tide faster than a timed delay.

Sadly I'm not getting many results filled with many a player that won't be first to throw insults, my friends don't really play TF2 anymore so there's no chance of having a nice private server and it makes me feel like the game is just dying for me, prolonged support doesn't feel so widespread anymore.

while I wont argue with you there are someways to avoid jerks on TF2..

such as never go on the official servers they are a magnet to those who get butt-hurt easily
second certain maps are also more likely to have jerks on them a good example is turbine never play on turbine

same goes for game modes,
the ones containing the most jerks are control point, the new beta mode, and Mann up mode.. capture the flag is mixed and you will rarely find a jerk on payload or cart pushing maps or non official modes like slenderfort or prop hunt (prop hunt tends to be the polar opposite of the rest actually, they tend to have a relaxed happy atmosphere)

Lol OP chill. Almost none of them are demanding that Valve give them that crap for free out of entitlement.

I look at forum posts for SPAZ 2, everyone in there is telling the dev to "shut up and take my money!" They don't actually mean for the dev to quit &#%@ing around and just release the game in a half-baked state so they can play it right away and be damned with consideration, they're spouting the meme because they think it's funny.

I'd rather see ASCII thumbsup art spam than no comments and no interest in whatever these people are "demanding," not that I think there wouldn't be people who would comment and approve of the item normally.

Pshaw, that's what makes the forums worthwhile. Things actually do need to get buffed/nerfed. This kind of stuff usually does need to be talked about to be noticed. Where else would one voice that feedback other than the forums? Bottle it up in themselves until they go mental and nail their furniture to the ceiling? Or go back on the servers and ***** directly over the microphone at other players whom couldn't give a shit and are just trying to play rather than start pointless arguments?... more than usual that is.

As for the brony hate, that's replaced the standard furry hate, and there are more furries than bronies, so if you look at it from a positive point of view, it's technically an improvement.

Most people don't play instant respawn. Making sure the enemy stays dead is what's often required to make any headway in a standard game. I would assume most people don't think that an endless torrent of tactless suicidal players should be what "turns the tide." It's often considered a lesser/joke game modifier, and I'm not too surprised that you would find more immature people on these servers.

I think people are just generally of a selfish "gimme gimme" attitude.
