I like putting my ipod on through my speakers in my room, some nice jazz like Kind of Blue or Bright Size Life. Not a kick in the pants, more like a gentle caress.

But I absolutely can not sleep with headphones on, I always managed to rip them out before I fall asleep.

I need technology to piss off in order for me to go to sleep, actually. No lights, no sound, or I'm staying awake.

I never did. I tried but I'd always get tangled up in the headphones. My roommates do it though (no clue how).

I don't need anything to sleep. Oh wait, actually I do. I need it to be that there is no motherfucking drill digging it's way to China outside of my fucking window! Seriously, those assholes started digging at 8 in the morning! 8! And they finished around 12!

I just need my insomnia to go away, for me to sleep.
I may be able to help you. You see there's this club I go to, but the first rule is "You're not supposed to talk about it. The second rule is that you're not supposed to talk about it...." Big hug from old ***** tits for reference.

I myself could never do that, I prefer complete silence when sleeping. Besides, with my luck I'll just be drifting off when Disturbed or something will pop on. Not a fun night really.

For me to sleep, I just need to convince myself that this site will get along fine without me on it for the night.
Then I pass out.
Without an iPod.

I don't NEED my iPod to fall asleep, but I'll set my touch to turn off after 30 minutes or an hour and then listen to a favorite podcast\playlist of slower music and it's a way to combat not sleeping by thinking of shit instead.
Same here. I often listen to the DrunkTank podcast before I go to bed.

It usually cleanses my stress from the day with humor.

I listen to talking books on my ipod to help me sleep.

Having someone talk when you are trying to sleep can be very soothing.

I put on my talking books at both sleep time and nap time (yes, I need naps)

I have a habit of falling asleep while listening to my ipod which means I usually have little time to charge it when I get up to go to work in the morning.

For some reason it's really easy for me to fall asleep while listening music while in a car or something, but only once have I been able to fall asleep with my mp3player on. Granted, I've got in-ear earphones which are about as far away from comfortable in bed as you can get, though.

I don't need anything, but at home I prefer a fan to keep me cool. At work I used to fall asleep with my iPod during break, but that's it.

If I'm not sleepy enough to knock out I CAN'T fall asleep without listening to my iPod.

In case you're wondering... yeah I fell asleep with earphones still in my ear buds lots of times. That's how my first earphones messed up, they get tangled and SOMEHOW end up under me so I'm crushing them when I wake up.

I might have a sleeping disorder since it takes me hours to fall asleep and listening to my iPod helps speed up that process every night.
