what games have had save games accidentally deleted saves, had save deleted by other person, harddrive failure, etc? how did you feel about it.

for me recently I was setting up Gothic 2 gold to be played after having not played the game for many months. I was feeling tired at the time and I ended up accidentally deleted the saves for my unfinished playthough of the game. my reaction to making that mistake was me sighing and thinking could avoided this by not doing at the middle of the night.

I am not all that disappointed since I was considering the idea of starting a new game any way before it became the only option. I also I like the game enough to only somewhat disappointed about it starting over. Most the disappointment stems from the lost save was my fire mage playthough that made it to chapter 3. It's going to take many hours to get back to this point again.

I lost my Fallout: New Vegas save 15 hours or so in. Got corrupted or something. Every time I tried to load it the game would crash to desktop. (Obsidian, best developers ever!)

Honestly, I was kind of relieved. Game was arse. Effectively just a really big Fallout 3 expansion.

That game is dognuts without the Nexus Mod Manager and several unofficial patches queued...and I don't know how many things that aren't the player's job to have installed in the first place. Oh, and mouse acceleration! Ooh, we f**king loves that one, we does!

OT: Before I (partially) caught on, I'd accidentally try to quicksave after a considerable length of time and crash my Skyrim game, losing all progress since the last successful save. My muscle memory really wasn't being a team player that day. The casualties were many. Much that once was is lost, for none now live who were sober at the time.

My friend suggested I delete my 100+ hour game on Fallout New Vegas to attempt to fix the massive issues I was having. I did this right before the release of the final DLC, which I had been eagerly awaiting. Turns out none of my issues were fixed and I now had to play through the entire game over again. Took me two months to reach The Lonesome Road and then Ulysses glitched up and refused to die.

I still haven't beaten Lonesome Road.

I had a few PS1 memory cards go bad so lost quite a lot. The two notable ones were a 90+ FFVII save where I had everyone at max stats and all the enemy skills on 3 materia plus a few master materia etc (pretty complete run). It was annoying but not to bad as I was right at the end and I had completed the game a few times before and many times after anyway.

Other one was a lost Vagrant Story save and I was quite a ways in still never finished that game due to that happening. My fault in a way as they were not official cards.

Just as much annoyance has been through lost time playing a game than lost saves tho.I finihsed Ninja Gaiden on Xbox playing a glitchy as hell copy that would randomly crash it was intense and not in a good way.You would beat a hard boss or challenge and then it would just hang. I would have take it back but I lost the receipt.

Similar, right at the end of FFVII my memory card got corrupted. First time through, only needed to get through the northern crater. Because of that I was so pissed off that I looked up the ending video online (I got the game way later, mid to end of the PS2's life). For how far I was I felt like I deserved it, especially since I did manage to do a good amount of sidequests.

I lost my X-Com classic Iron-man save when I was most of the way thru the game (I was going to go to the last missions when I'd finished gearing/levelling the squad I wanted foe it). That one actually did piss me off because getting that far took a number of tries.

I lost my dark souls save where I was collecting all the weapons.

I have lost Skyrim saves but that's an expected hazard of messing around with mods.

POP: Warrior Within did a weird thing where I somehow got taken back several hours even though I had saved and loaded since that point fine and had overwritten that save.

I had my Arkham City saves wiped when GFWL was dropped from it. Honestly, totally worth it.
I lost mine because of GFWL so I was thrilled at its removal too.

I lost several savegames when I first got my GameCube because I was using memory cards from Logic3... those cards had some serious issues that did not make up for slightly lower cost. I lost my Sonic Adventure 2 saves like 4 times. I actually thought that starting Dark story arc would reset your Hero story arc and vice versa for the longest time.

I also once manage to screw up my savegame for Resident Evil 4. I was playing through the game on Pro (which is actually really hard because of the Village chief boss and Krouser). I was at the point where I was fighting Krouser when I managed to save over the game and I had to go back to the point where I had to fight the village chief all over again. I never completed that...

I lost my Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction save near the end of the game, when my cousin saved over it. Thanks, mate.
