Have you ever had a bad experience with the dentist? I hate that place more than hell itself.

One time I had to have a root canal, and about an hour into the procedure my tooth actually broke into fragments, I could actually see the dentist's "oh fucking fuckedy fuck fuck" expression. He ended up spending the next 2 hours digging it out from underneath piece by piece with that sharp hook-like thing.

Funny thing, when I was a kid, my pediatric dentist would tell me I had like 4 cavities every visit, and whip out his drill, now I go to an adult dentist, and guess what? I never have cavities anymore. Needless to say, I'm convinced my old dentist was an asshole who made up problems so that you'd have to pay for him to fix them.

Nope I'm generally good with Dentist's. Haven't had any major problems with them and I've even gone without flossing and brushing for days.

I've never had anything wrong with my teeth, but fucking hell is that place scary anyway.

Mostly because he always has to take his sharp pointy-thing and shove it in between my teeth.

It doesn't hurt, but it's so fucking scary.

DENTISTS ARE EVIL!

The only bad experience (if you can call it that) I've ever had with a dentist is when I went there as a kid. The lady there told me that if I didn't stand still she'd probably end up cutting my tongue. Being a kid at the time I froze up and coulfn't say a word to her after that.

Well I want to be a dentist when I grow up.

I'll try and make sure the experience is... Satisfactory.

One of my dentist a long time ago stuck the needle through a nerve and a screamed in pain. She didn't care. She got promoted a year later. I changed clinics.

Laughing gas doesn't even really make you "go under"

Creepy.

I've had good luck with dentists. The only thing that scared me was when my dentist was going to fill a cavity and he pulled out a novicane seringe with about 3-4 inches of needle on it, and then shoved it to the hilt in the ROOF of my mouth. I couldn't help but wonder why he was trying to numb my brainstem.

I've had that happen once too!

The guy assured me the chances of "hitting a nerve" is like "winning the lottery" and that it would never happen again, bullshit.

Still I don't think there's any way to avoid it, I think it's just bad luck.

Did he then ask for your PIN number?

I've had good teeth for the most part so nothing incredibly painful, but when I was little I had to get sealants on some of my back teeth. They had 4 different tubes in my mouth at once and I gagged about every 10 seconds for five minutes. I have a really strong gag reflex. Hated the dentist since no matter what it was for.

I'm getting fillings next week, and I have no idea what's going to happen. Anyone know what they do?

As a kid I don't think I ever had a bad experience from going to the dentist. Wollypop and sticker and all.

However as an Adult I don't think they care about hurting you when cleaning your teeth + gums etc. I remember when I went to get some of my teeth pulled when I was 17 to get a Braces. Receptionist only sent the letter with the wrong teeth to pull. Thank god my dentist realised.

Had to have teeth removed so that I could get braces. They decided that instead of just putting me to sleep (or fucking me up on nitrous oxide), they were going to give me a local anesthetic. Which came in the form of a shot. Inside my mouth. Only it didn't work very well at all... so they had to give me like four shots... inside my mouth. Actually, it didn't hurt too bad getting the shots, but it's really intimidating when someone's sticking a needle inside your mouth. I still wish they would've just put me to sleep.

Oh, and braces sucked too. My orthadontist was an asshole.

Well, I've had two oral surgeries in my life. The first one, was for a growth behind my two front top teeth. He had to go half an inch up into my pallet, and didn't give me any gas, or local anesthetic. He just dug. And then he had the gall to tell me to stop crying because he had other patients in the room next to him.

After that, routine cleanings don't bother me, any cavities-don't bother me either. The normal dentist is just fine to me.

I have no problem with my dentist, he's a really nice guy.

Although when the ever I do require some sort of dental operation, I demand the laughing gas, I won't take a needle in my mouth.

Also I love getting laughing gas, I feel so care free, in fact the last time I got it,is when I had to get one of my back teeth pulled out. It didn't hurt at all and I spent the entire operation giggling, staring at the spinning ceiling and for some reason attempting to sing the happy birthday song. (Badly.)

...You can get laughing gas?!

I never get laughing gas :( I always have to deal with the anesthetic needles, or just take the drilling pain like a man.

Im not sure if they give the gas on any dentist at Finland

I'm fine with the dentist, mostly because I always get told I have good straight teeth that shouldn't braces/ many fillings. But my evil brother will, so it is my own form of revenge against him when we have check-ups. Oh yes, the dental visits are good.

I've been many times to dentist, but i never allowed them to do anything real. I've got dental phobia. And unluckily, i have two teeth that have to be removed, and are almost completely eaten by caries (unluckily my parents never took me to dentist, and my first visit was when it was noticed - already in advanced stage, yet possible to cure. It stayed that way, nobody did anything, and now, after years it became a problem.).

I really don't know what to do. I'm too scared to go through tooth removal normally, and in my stupid, medieval mentality country there are no options for someone like me. There are no legal pills or other things to make me more calm, psychologists refuse to give some prescription that would allow to buy something like that.
Damn.
