So most of us will have read Yahtzee's article on character design and how poorly the character War was put together in the game Darksiders. How would you portray the character War? For that matter, how would you imagine any anthropomorphic personification (holy shit) like the four horse men?

I would imagine War to look something like the lich king from WoW, only beefier. Its that dark armour its the personification of bloody combat.

As for the rest of the horsemen, i'd imagine them all to somehow be visual representations of their disaster for example; pestilance would be oozing and decayed from sickness famine would be a feeble looking husk of a starved man, and death would just be a shadow within a dark robe, an eternal darkness hiding beneath it.

Alternatively they could be ironic representations of each, war would be a hippy, famine would be obese, pestilance would be a doctor and death would be a young man of perfect health.

I think he'd be on fire, and be all shrivelled up, with physical wounds covering his body

War is an ugly thing, and a character should represent it so.

I say he should be armed with the weapons of the human world. Like guns, swords, crossbows and the like.

I'm tempted to say a child, just for the irony. The most innocent little girl you could imagine, like Shirley Temple or something.

But I'd probably just make him a guy in a suit, because those are the ones who start the wars; the politicians are the ones who send the troops to fight.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
ehh the design is fine, a bit more explination for it would be nice but whatever, not every single thing needs to be mentioned, at least hes not the fashion explosion (ugh I feel dirty for having said that) that is an ff game

I'd make him/her a nude, featureless individual. I'd probably have him/her with monochrome skin adn be devoid of any blemeshes. The only things he/she would wear would be somekind of helmet, and a huge assortment of weapons from different periods (swords, grenades, machineguns etc.), with ammunition and scabbards draping over the body.

The first caveman to ever kill another human being, the first warrior. He's savage and brutal, just like war.

A small red ball. This ball takes on many forms but it always sews destruction.

Ok, so War would have 2 arms, with a large number of spider like appendages on his back ending in an assortment of blades or claws. Tall, but not excessively muscular, using agility more than brute force.

Pestilence would be a corpse, covered with boils, vomiting blood, bloated, constantly wheezing, horribly disfigured.

Famine would be a thin corpse, like someone out of the pictures of Auschwitz survivors, with no teeth and spreading his weakness to all he touches

Death would be a shadow, never seen in detail, appearing and disappearing as he wishes, slaughtering all in his wake, amorphous and ambiguous.

Like they absorb peace, plenty, health, and life?

Almost like the ministries of Love, Plenty, Truth, and Peace in 1984

Well i wouldn't know about the 1984 thing, since i haven't read it but yeah that was the sort of general idea.

War would look like a benevolent inventor weeping over his own creations. Death would be a listless spirit gliding lifelessly across the land, famine would be a starving child drawing more than sympathy from your soul and pestilence would be a raging festering infection upon the land.
