For some reason I downloaded it and get the error:

"Unexpected error occured when playing the game"

Anyone else get this error before and know how to fix it?

This happened to a friend of mine. I wish I had good news for you but it was never resolved. To this day his desktop will not play the game. He finally saw the glory of the game with his netbook though.

I don't have that issue... try redownloading/installing?

EDIT:

So is there anything I can do?

There must be info on the internet somewhere, I find it easier to type in the title of the game, and then copy/paste the exact wording of the error message.

That has always worked for me.

You're only missing out on a half finished game that uses maps which have 0% chance of success about 65-75% of the time, depending on what class you play as.

By the time someone gets around to fixing that bug maybe it'll actually work.

Sadly it doesn't as no one else apparently has posted something of it on any site...

Say, if you don't have anything useful to add to the thread, why even post? He's asking for a solution to his problem, not your "opinion" about something you evidently don't even care about.

OT: As for an actual solution, I wish I could help, if anything, I'd say reinstalling it, is as good a guess as any.

No, that's how Roguelikes are supposed to be. If you can't stand losing, then this is simply not the genre for you.
