Noob question, if i install linux will all my programs still work and will i be able to go back to vista if i need to at a later date?
You can partition your hard drive so that you can have both Linux and Vista on it at the same time. You would just have to choose which to boot up when you start your computer.
As far as the programs go, most, if not all your Windows programs would not work in Linux. You would have to get the Linux version of whatever programs you wanted. You can emulate some Windows programs in Linux with Wine, but it can take a lot of work to get them working right, particularly with games.
