I'm looking for some hard boiled Detective movies (For the enjoyment and to help me in my current detective writing) Though I haven't come across any.

Any Reccomendations ? (No sherlock holmes I already seen those)

You could start with The Maltese Falcon. Still one of the best.

Also try and pick up Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid, which not only spoofs but improves on.

Try Dark City for a weird twist on film noir. Very underrated.
Zodiac is a fantasic film.

Hard Boiled. Chow Yun-Fat as Inspector "Tequila" and John Woo's doves. You can't beat it.

Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang. The plot is completely incomprehensible but who cares, the back and forth between the two leads is just too great to miss.

Film Noir ftw!! I absolutely love the stuff. Look up Double Indemnity (1944). Great film, classic film noir and one of my favourites. I also recommend The Maltese Falcon (1941), Chinatown (1974) and The Lady from Shanghai (1947) if you are into the classics.

If you want a more modern and different take on the genre, i highly recommend Brick. It's a neo-noir hard boiled detective film set in a high school. Brilliant stuff.
