(Appologies as to the terrible punctuation and grammar, Im out of country and wont be back until Oct1 so.... Deus Ex HR will wait till then *sad face*) EDIT essentially EURO KEYBOARDS MAKE MANWAT SMASH

I played the leak for 10 hours in multiple styles.

Health regenerates so slow that it is not reliable, ontop of that enemies would hit and scratch you even behind chesthigh walls so if youre planning on running and gunning you still have to be efficient and retreat and pick fights.

Wallhugging replaced the god awful leaning system that was thankfully taken out back and shot.

No quicktime events in the leak. Havent seen any in trailers. Whatchutalkinbout?

Looooooots of map exploration in the end half of the leak, so about... 2 to 3 hours in the maps are pretty big.

First time I played the game I killed 1 person (The boss, we ll get to that) outside of the mooks you are required to kill in the opening tutorial.

How do I reply to concerns about the conspiracy. Assuming you have not played the leak, all you really know is that synthetic limbs have varying veiws on them. Its not really much different than the start of DE1. Terrorists have blown up the statue of liberty! Go solve the problem! It took a few plot points before the interesting stuff happened. Which we ll be able to see how the familiar organizations got started.

Ill say again. The leak was really good, the only problem I had with it was the boss fight and a little bit of confusion with how the conversation gameplay worked. But thats been mentioned. Aside from that the gameplay feels similiar to the original. Heres a map, there are guards here. Do what you will, learn the patrols and sneak past? Murder everyone?

Preordered as soon as available, and then got one free. :D Its like they knew!

Depending on what you have you may not need to. The leak ran on my 800CAN 2 yearold PC on lowest (without looking like shit).

Meh, by modern generation standards 89 isn't actually that good. There are probably at least 15 games that have been released this year that have gotten better scores. And LA FUCKING NOIRE got an 89, so that pretty much sums up how special the score is.

Ah yes, it was published by them.
I just don't understand why Edios had to pick Square Enix (apart from the fact that they've been together for a while now); I might have thought about buying it, if it had been another publishers name on the box.

You can turn off the luminous orange border in the options menu.

Just because you hate the publisher doesn't mean the game is awful. Might wanna look at your long list of reasons again and see just how many of them are actually justifiable.
You can turn off the orange borders? Well, that's a plus!

While I do hate the publisher, I don't necesarily hate the game. I said that the level design and gameplay wasn't too good, the rest of the game looks pretty good. I can completely understand why anyone would love this game to pieces.

Because Square Enix bought them two years ago. Why would Square let them go to another publisher when they own them and can do it themselves?

The only right they had at this point was to keep the Eidos name on the game(which I didn't really pay attention to see if they even did) because it was in development before they got bought out as you said.

TL;DR - I'm going to buy the game. Make no mistake on that when you read this. I will most likely enjoy the experience too, it is after all a game designed to appeal to the majority market. *sigh*

Stealth/Diplomacy encouraged,
Lots of rich conspiracy involving familiar organisations - the whole anti-synthetic limbs movement is a little bit... err, lame,
Cool sounding voice actors - even Alex D's male voice was actually nice, Adam sound a bit like he's trying too hard so far,
DE1; Individual limb health,
The list goes on.

I'm still buying the game though. And I may even buy it at full price to support official release! O_O

I know that the health regeneration is slow, but I didn't want it there to begin with. And I still want the individual limb health system.

I liked leaning too. There was nothing wrong with that system - even though it took extra key-input to use it. It allowed me to observe the surrounding area while still in glorious immersive First Person View.

I also don't like the whole, press to hug wall, press to jump to the next wall to hug, press to vault over to the next wall you can hug, press to stop hugging. It's like they think I'm too stupid to navigate from cover to cover without them creating a system that does it for me. That is a reason why I can't play Splinter Cell Conviction; I hated the press to jump from cover-to-cover. :(

I don't know why I wrote quick time event. I meant to address the press-to-kill/K.O. function they've introduced. I guess that kind of counts as a QTE though since it needs to be executed before the enemy turns around and spots you/makes you dead. Why do I need a one-press take-down? There was nothing wrong with the previous take-downs that just needed you to attack normally from behind or if you were high level low-tech or had maxed strength in Invisible War.

Besides, the take-downs I've seen in the previews - even the non-lethal ones are way to dynamic to be discreet. It was embarrassing to watch a guard with his back turned not react to the noise of his colleague getting the shit beaten out of him just 3 meters behind him. Especially when one considers that Adam's arms are made out of metal, and therefore would make quite a lot of noise when smashing skulls. In spite of all this, somehow he still manages to keep a low profile.

I don't like these cinematic actions. At all. They do nothing for gameplay but take it away from me for a few seconds and then I'm allowed to play again. Much appreciated Eidios! Next time stop trying to be like everybody else!

Although, according to the uploader this scenario only happened because he cheated to get an augmentation for double take-down early.

From what I've picked up from earlier posts by the developers they announced that they would try to downsize map exploration for a more streamed experience. If that's no longer the case I will be a very happy kitten while I play it.

I did not play the leak, nor have I played any demos. I don't actually know if there is one available, since I haven't checked. So yeah, I'm jealous.

My answer is absolutely, play the original. The new game should stand up by itself (indeed, its a prequel, so if you need to have played the first something's gone horrifically wrong. But the first game is still a deep, timeless classic. The visuals are a little dated though, and the first level is a *****. I mean, you will have to save scum like crazy. Would another couple of medkits killed guys? C'mon....

*ahem* Seriously, though, get it.
I seem to remember the first level beign fairly tough. Being pit against an armed security bot in the first area? Madness! Especially seeing that I chose not to opt for the GEP Gun.

Anyway, I must say I am pleasantly surprised this game has being getting such good reviews. I remained sceptical about Human Revolution for a good while. Ultimate judgement will of course be reserved for when I actually play it.

Well, it appears as though this game is truly good.

Today I was pushed over the edge [http://www.shamusyoung.com/twentysidedtale/?p=12674].

I will buy this game come hell or high water. Probably even going to buy the collector's edition.

Thing is, the actual fights weren't very hard. They were just unforgiving. It was really easy to take down a guy, but if you got 1 tranq dart, you were dead, unless you used one of the 3 measily medkits around the place. Even if you had medicine level 2, you would still be walking wreck by the time you finished.

It was possible to take down the bot with a crate of TNT lying around or an EMP in the unatco base, though.
Ah, probably forgot about them, been a while since I've played the first DX. Although I don't think I ever got myself in such a bad state in that game as the time both my legs took 100% damage and I basically had to drag Denton around in that state for the remainder of the level. No medkits, cells or energy you see. Tough times....

I may as well copypasta this from another site I've written this for:

I've only played this game for a couple of hours, and to be frank, I'm quite pleased with the game so far. Combat and controls are responsive, each augmentation has a significant (except maybe the social ones, but I've yet to see them in play) and hacking is a little fun, but not as life-threatening as that of EYE: Divine Cybermancy (and in that game, even doors can kill you if you suck at hacking). Despite me not having a social life, the social parts are quite interesting, as Jensen has quite a bit to say when you choose something. Pick the right option(s) and people will spill their guts. Mess up and people close up, shoot hostages, etc. And social boss fights are possible.

Stealth is tough but rewarding, and the knockout/assassination animations are awesome and funny, with the funny parts being subjective if you appreciate dark humor. Sneaking around Metal Gear style is apparent in this game, as you must avoid the gazes of security cameras and moving incapacitated bodies away from the sight of cameras and other patrols, lest they sound an alarm. I was kinda hoping I could get Jensen to use a box as a stealth tactic, but I was sad that wasn't implemented. Can't forget about tranquilizing enemies to ensure a pacifist run if you wish to do that. Enemies can wake up their incapacitated comrades, so either tranq anyone looking at the body(ies) or move it.

Speaking of enemies, the AI isn't very stupid (nor psychic, unless they have augs that can allow them to see through walls and cover (you can have this one too). They use cover, shoot and flank intelligently, and are capable of using tactics such as the pincer (and maybe some others I have no clue about). Rushing in Call of Duty style is possible, as regenerating health is automatically included (but unlike other FPS games, the augs justify the regen), but will get you killed quickly. Doesn't mean it isn't possible if you're good at shooting and are aware of your surroundings.

My gripes about this game are:

1. Earning augs. Gotta earn XP, gain enough of that, and XP converts into token-esque items called Praxis Points, which are used for augs. These take quite a while to earn, and while the game rewards exploration and combat alike, XP feels like it's being earned at a snail's pace. Then again, I've only played about two hours, so it's not like I'm gonna be an ultra badass anytime in the beginning.

2. Mouse sensitivity. To me, it feels a little jerky, and it's very apparent in combat. That does not mean I'm having a hard time shooting, as long as the range isn't long.

From what I've played, this game does in fact, live up to and to many extents, exceed the original. This is the Deus Ex we have been waiting for. I may be saying that too soon, but that's how I feel. And I'm losing my writing abilities, so this impression of the game kinda sucks. Maybe there's an aug for that. And in my opinion, the critical reviews hype this game up a little too much.

100's and high 90's are handed out far to often. Praise comes easy from publishers afraid of what might happen with developers, and with a title like Deus Ex, Nostalgia glasses are a given. I love Deus Ex, I'm excited to play it and give it a shot because I was disappointed by the last DE game...plus it's my kind of RPG...

...but...

...I'll wait for Yhatzee.
This is true , but if thats the case , shoud i wait for someone who has never played the original to tell me how it is before i buy it? I have never played deus ex , so i dont even know if i should pick this one up . Im not hyped about it because i know nothing about it.

Stayed up until 6:00 am last night playing it. This game is nothing short of fantastic so far and does more than justice to its original Deus ex heritage and I am extremely happy with this game. It's the first new release in a good long while I have thoroughly enjoyed from the very second that I have started playing.

Oh, it has nothing to do with this game in particular. I can run it probably decently, but I really can't spend any money on games anymore cause I'm saving for a new one.

Another problem is that I just cannot see any reason for a lethal takedown. Ever.
If guards happen upon an unconscious compatriot, they will wake him up. Not so if he's dead.

Non-lethal takedown: was it really necessary to break the guy's arm?!

I reserve judgement for the 26th, but pre-rendered cutscenes and unavoidable boss fights that can only be won with superior firepower... Seems like they're giving us our wildest dreams with one hand, and then crushing them with the other.

Kinda like this (skip to 4:00)
